    I posted this under pro day, and no one commented, i know some of you were high on McCluster;

The Rebels explosive skill player Dexter McCluster was exactly that, explosive. He ran 40 times which hovered in the low 4.4-second area. Some scouts had McCluster as fast as 4.39 seconds. His three cone time was also swift at 6.59 seconds. McCluster’s forty time represents an improvement of .15 seconds over his combine.

It would be nice but that would be a little careless to say that. How many Jason Wittens and Marion Barbers are you willing to pass on because you liked the 1st two rounds?

That three cone time is impressive. I am warming to him as a KR guy who could do something else in small amounts. Not sure where the right round is though

Yeah, that was slight exaggeration, lol. But that would be very nice if it turned out like that. Then add in a guard and a tackle or a decent corner or ILB and its cruising.

More and more I find myself hoping he is our 1st pick, but that Jerry trades out of round 1 to the top of round 2 to take him and adds more picks.

Iupati is just about the only player I would hope for in round 1, almost any other option I'd prefer to trade down.

You have to be leary of a guy that size and figure he has a short career. On the other hand a Billy "White Shoes" Johnson type would really help special teams alot.

Probably just a figure of speech saying that it would be awesome.

Of course you wouldn't be careless in the late rounds but it wouldn't hurt so bad if you missed on those picks because the first 2 were so baller.

Like I said, at about the 23rd pick or so, talent rounds off from 2nd round to 4th round, some stud players are available in those rounds. Even the 49ers,when they saw true value, they traded down and got multipple picks in rounds 2 to 5, the draft where they chose charles haley and rathman their killer fb. They also got a big OT/OG wallace i think, some key dbs, etc.

I wouldnt mind if iupati, earl thomas are gone, we trade down to top of 2nd rounds, get multiple picks in rounds 2 to 5. And load up on players like ducasse, fox, dickerson, mccluster, spikes, joseph, to name a few,

if we can come out of this draft with 5 to 7 key players like i listed above, doomsday will be back in dallas, with a very potent offense with ducasse, fox, mccluster and dickerson; etc...

I'd add Thomas to the first round mix, but if both are gone, by all means, trade down...

If this is your expecatation, you may end up sorely disappointed.

There are many other players worthy of our 1st rd pick too, not just Iupati. And he might give us the least immediate return of any first round pick we could take if he didnt win a starting guard spot early.

And I still dont think McCluster is much of a target for us. Not saying we definitely wont draft him, but he really doesnt have a true position. If we didnt have Felix Jones and Tashard Choice I'd be more inclined to think differently, but he isnt going to be an everydown WR in the NFL. For him to b worth investing an early pick on he'd have to have a defined role, and I dont think he would here. He definitely isnt going to play RB ahead of our top 3 guys (nor should he) and he wouldnt be one of the top 3 receivers either. He also hasnt shown he can be a bigtime return player. Not saying he cant, but to date he hasnt done it ad when he got chances, he wasnt that impressive at it.

yeah but Dbair you missing a big point about McCluster and the cowboys.

First, what did wade say he was going to do with felix, he wont be returning kickoffs any more.
Second, percy harvin, who runs about a 4.4 abut with extreme quickness like McCluster, Harvin ran some super kickoffs for tds last year,

McCluster can play in the slot some, also catch passes out of the backfield, or be used in the razorback formation with choice, be very hard for any safety or linebacker to cover McCluster.

McCluster can also return punts, etc... Be very dynamic, then if we can get dorin dickerson at TE/FB no safety can cover him or linebacker.

so he can be a big boost for us, on special teams, 3rd downs, etc...

I'll pass on him. We don't have enough carries to go around as is, and I certainly wouldn't want him taking any from our top 3 RBs. As for being in the slot, I don't think he'd see a ton of playing time at WR. With 3 guys ahead of him, and a couple TEs that need balls thrown their way, I don't see how you get the ball in his hands. He's a weapon, but I think our offense is pretty fully loaded. If anything, I'd want a WR that could compete for a starting job, with #1 WR upside.

You should know by now that I do not get disappointed over my pet cats who do not get drafted. Have you ever seen me post one comment about wishing we had taken Terrell Suggs like I so desperately wanted when we first started jawing on these sites?

I am a realist. I can separate my biases, sane and insane, from the actual direction things fall. These aren't my expectations, they are my thoughts, opinions, agendas, and/or any other adjective you want to give them.

I happen to know McCluster is viewed by the team as a slot WR and return man as well as an option for the Razorback. I like what he can potentially bring to the Offense. That doesn't mean we are going to get him. I know that. I just hope we do and I would love it. If we don't end up with him I won't give it a 2nd thought.

That doesn't stop me from having an opinion and sometimes they are unpopular. I'll get over it.

    I don't see him as a RB.

I see him as a guy with incredible quickness who can get in and out of his cuts fast and create the sort of separation where his height isn't an issue. Put him in the slot sometimes... split him out wide at other times, and have him return kicks and punts...

I see him as a jack of all trades who isn't on the field for every snap, but forces defenses to adjust when he's in.
