Considering financial implications and assuming that a trade came along that you considered fair,
A) Would you consider trading one of our three highly paid linemen?
B) If so, which one would you be most likely to trade?

For me, they are all good players and certainly there is emotional attachment. However, to be a good GM you gotta explore all options. So my answer would be yes.

I would be most likely to trade Zack or Travis simply because i think i can win without perennial pro bowlers in these positions and thus I can lower my % paid for the position group. I say this even though i am more worried about Tyron from a health \ consistency standpoint.

Ultimately i would probably lean toward trading Zack as I can probably get more for him & G not as critical for communication as C.

Travis because of his medical and Looney is above average. There is also some good prospects in the draft at Center.

I'd prefer to just keep our guys though.

Every offseason somebody wants to trade one of our O-linemen. You’re just early this time...

highest trade value imo is Zack. The one I'd dump via trade Tyron and I'm not recommending it but for thread purposes Tyron.

Logically speaking our guards should be bigger than our tackles. But it'll still be hard as heck to trade away Zack.

For what or who?

I would not take a fair offer for any of them. The team would have to overpay for me to let them go.

Need to dump some money from the line. Highest paid QB, highest paid RB, and highest paid WR shouldn't need the highest paid OL.

None.

One thing to trade off a guy, soon to hit the market and you are miles apart on contract terms. Another to trade a guy who you have locked up long term and still producing.

Why trade a strength, to make it weaker?

Martin has been an all-pro linemen since the day he stepped into the league.
His cap hit is definitely worth it from a talent perspective.

We saw the benefit of a weaker Frederick in terms of protection. Same lineup, just with him in the game, the amount of sacks dropped tremendously.

If the Cowboys traded Martin, they would save 3mil this season, with 12mil in dead cap.

didn't say i wanted to just that its an option to clear cap space. If we keep signing folks to big deals it may become necessary.

Part of what prompted the question was some draft reviews where there appears to be some legit OT & OG prospects. Figured OG on a first contract frees up space to sign some players elsewhere without a catastrophic drop off in play at the OG position.

I would to but didn't figure Travis would garner much in a trade for those reasons.

Positions of strength should only be reinforced, not weakened for budget cuts. All the money we dropped on Zeke leaves us in a position where cutting back now just makes us foolish. If u can upgrade a guy with a draft pick then by all means but if said pick doesn’t pan out or tears a peck, that sets us back...

Understand. Just spitballing scenario's. Only have a limited number of options that would free up significant cap & return some value.

Without getting into the cap ramifications...

I would trade Zack Martin in a heartbeat for an equal return at other positions.

Why would we be trading, out of curiosity?
Just spitballing scenario's where you might have a better overall roster by trading away a proven player. Only have a limited number of options that would free up significant cap & return some value.
