Ain't that the pot calling the kettle .....uh.....you know. He had no issues with holding out, but he wants to offer Dak to accept less.

It always makes total sense to everyone but the player involved to take less money. Make room for another player that can lead to more success. Win more games and Super Bowls that will lead to a bigger next contract and much more valuable endorsement deals down the road. Unfortunately Dak doesnt seem to be taking that road.

Didn’t Emmitt hold out after a Super Bowl or 2 and being the leagues leading rusher?

This is not the same at all. If Dak had some post season success nobody would be talking and Dallas would’ve already paid him.

Dak is not even in the same realm as Emmitt. Superbowl champion who was the heart of the team. Dak should listen.

All do respect to Emmitt but Dak doesn't need to be listening to any former player who held out the first 2 games of the regular season looking for a big second contract. Not many things bother fans, especially former players more than the money players are making today. It's easy for everyone to say a player should take less money to keep their team together when it's not their money and future that's on the line. Most players only get one opportunity at a huge contract and they have to take advantage of the going rate at their position, because it's only a matter of time before they become expendable and have to take a pay cut to stay on their team or in the league. Once a players performance declines there's no loyalty, teams move on.

Emmitt is right. The one advantage Dallas has over the rest of the league is that there is no higher profile position than being The QB for the Cowboys . Win and record breaking endorsement deals will come.
With Dak's personality and the way he stays out of trouble he is a very marketable guy for endorsements. He doesn't even have to win a SB to get top dollar endorsement money. I'm not trying to be weird here but he's a good looking guy so he could model clothes, jewelry, watches etc. Pick up a shoe deal and either coke or Pepsi and he could play for the league minimum and still bring home about 50 million. Vick got a 90+ million deal with Nike without winning anything and being the face of the Falcons. Dak being the face of the Cowboys could bring in a haul. He needs to consider this. And no I'm not saying Dak should play for the league minimum, I'm just making a point.

I agree that it's hypocritical, but in Emmitt's defense, this type of merchandising opportunity never existed in his day. The 90's Team and Jerry Jones are the team that took it to the next level with NFL merchandising. Just another reason why Dallas had so many haters.

This is easier in the NBA where you have so few players to work it out with to create that dynasty team, sometimes all represented by the same agent. So if I were an agent, I'd just warn him to not be played for a sucker. Sounds nice in theory, but the reality is another agent will take advantage of it. "You gave Dak less, so you can give my guy more."

But as a counter-point, I'd tell Dak that if you do this and win, your popularity and merchandise earning potential is even double. You're the guy who truly put team first. What fan doesn't love that?

When Emmitt was putting up back to back rushing titles and the Cowboys were on top of the NFL world, I'm sure he had his share of endorsement deals. They certainly weren't for the amount of money players are seeing today but times have changed. I'm sure if Emmitt was in his prime today and was putting up the numbers he did in the early to mid 90s, he would want to be the highest paid player at his position just like he did then or he would hold out. Dak is playing in a day and age where QBs who've done little to nothing are being paid an outrageous amount of money.

None of these QBs want to take less than what the other QBs are getting because it makes it appear their team doesn't value them like the teams of those other QBs. I doubt Mahomes is going to give KC a break to keep their team together when he signs. Regardless what he gets paid it may look like a bargain 5 years from now. QB salaries are going higher and higher. Derek Carr's contract looked ridiculous a few years ago and now we have a QB making 10M more per season.

Emmitt is loyal to Jerry and the cowboys. He's just helping the home team, a nice gesture, but not likely to influence Dak in the least. Expect other Ex-cowboys to say the same in the near future.

Link? Just look it up. No reason to hold your hand.

You’re the one who made the claim provide the link! I haven’t seen anything “confirming“ what he’s been offered. All the dollar figures that he’s been offered have been reported and many have been conflicting. Where are they supposedly getting this information from Jerry and Stephen as if they’re disclosing the offers that have been made? The Joneses don’t make contract negotiations public. Jerry was even asked about one of the offers that were reported and he said it wasn’t true.

There was no franchise tag when Emmitt did what he did. He had no contract and he was waiting for things to get sorted...

Holy Larry, are you incompetent on a computer? Just type in Dak/Cowboys public contract negotiations.

Seriously, how can you not know how to do that?
