If New CBA agreed to, increases chances of losing Cooper

If the new CBA is agree to prior to the start of the new, it is highly likely that the two tag option will no longer be available. If Dallas does not reach an agreement with either before then, they will only be able to franchise tag one, the transition tag will go away and the other will be able to test free agency....

I think if it is agreed to, those changes will not take affect until the 2021 season. Some can be voted to take effect this season, but I doubt if they mess with this years FA and tag situations, as teams have plans for it. And for them to screw that up, not good.
But it does sounds like something stupid the NFL would do.:lmao:

Its not a new rule. The only reason 2 tags are available is because its the last year of the current agreement. If a new agreement is reached that is no longer the case so the default 1 tag would be back in play.

If the Cowboys want to sign Cooper they will. Please stop these chicken little threads. If the league and union agree to a deal the Cowboys and Coopers agent would have the parameters for the deal. Dak and Cooper would be foolish if they signed a long term deal before the CBA is completed. None of the talking heads give us that information.

I don't think the transition tag will change this year either. And I would think it's now way too soon coming up to it's due date for it to have any immediate change effects.
if it's true, I like to see reputable, updated news on these possible votes to end away with it (transitional tag) this year.
Maybe I could see it changing at CBA agreement time. (and I would do away with repeat franchise tagging if I were in players association)

I know both tags were only available this year and because it is the last year.
What I was saying, is if they reach a new agreement soon, this most likely will not cause them to do away with using both tags this year.

And a new deal may allow both tags to be used. It does not mean it reverts back to the old. rule or deal. They can do anything they want with it.

They will not decide on it in time anyway. Most likely these meetings are to get cards on the table and see what is of value, what is a bluff. What will one side take off the table to keep another on on.

They will meet again in the summer meetings to come to an agreement. Then again they have an incentive to get it done with theses meetings.

Because if they want that extra playoff game and 17th game, they need to get it done as to getting the schedule out mid April, they will have a lot of work to do.

Dump both tags, manage the cap better. How pathetic, they can't do their jobs so they need a safety net.

If you are bringing Dak back you have to bring Cooper. We've seen what Dak does when Cooper isn't around.

if the new CBA is agreed to, does it go into effect immediately. somehow that doesn't make sense. they are not going to a 17 game and expanded playoff format next year, so probably the next off season. aren't we still under the old agreement until the end of this year.

Agreed.

Coop and Dak will be locked up. Jones is a different story

I think it would be the mother of all sociology studies if there were no nfl for a year. for the players, for the owners, and for the fans.

any CBA agreement will also come with increase in the salary cap making it easier to get guys signed. When have players ever walked into a CBA and did not come up with more money? Cap will increase and even more so under a new CBA

Cannot wait to see if the less than stellar leadership of the PA roll over on article 46 that screwed Elliott?

I think Cooper picked a bad year to be a free agent b/c this is the best WR draft in a looooong time.

Jerry has a heavy influence on this CBA. He knows whats best for his team when it comes to the CBA. Your "if" scenario is unlikely. Go worry about something else, like the sky falling. lol

If that tag wasn’t there then I wonder how bad he will want to stay here. JJ offered him top 5 pay last year.
