Probably makes a slight bit of difference when your opponent is scheming and planning against you specifically and at the same time, you're doing the same thing over and over, out of the same formation, arrogantly figuring each player can beat their man.

Take your pick on who to blame, but the one common denominator was who is no longer here in Dallas...

Jason Garrett and his coaching staff.

What say you?

I’d call it the worst top offense in Cowboys history. The overall stats were inflated from their blowout wins and yards in losses attempting to comeback.

In 8 of their losses only averaged 15 points a game compared to 35 in their wins. In 3 of those losses didn’t score a TD. And we’re unable to overcome a 7 point or more deficit in any game.

The offense too often struggled early placing the defense on its heels and with our strength in running game stymied we had to rely on passing game which is why so many yards were amassed.

Our offense was built to pound the rock. It lends support to our QB and defense. When the running game is altered our chances of winning are slim.

Sad we were in almost every game. We need a coach that won’t abandon what’s working. We always hate when we abandon a working running game. But sometimes we had the passing game going. ST sticking us with long drives didn’t help either. Did any of those games mentioned have missed FG attempts that later bit us. I am sure there was.

I think one group that doesn't "get their fair share of abuse" is the offensive line and running game. Given the investment involved, the results should be much better, and far more consistent. All too often, when needed the most, the team was unable to rely on its running game to make a play when it mattered most. That needs to change. Hopefully, the line does a better job under Joe Philbin than they did under Colombo. But if things don't rebound, it may be time to start making changes to their approach, and their lineup.

:muttley: OMG of course when you kick 3 fg in Philly its Garrett's fault!!!:muttley:

Lame duck. The whole staff I think knew they were goners. Not a good way to show other teams your worth hiring. But these coaches get recycled to other teams. Richard is likely getting another job. Marinelli already has one and so does JG.

All demotions, working their way down the coaching ladder and one step closer to out the door.

Going into this season, I was a big fan of Kris Richard and hoped that his influence would get us out of Marinelli's Stone-Age concepts. That sure didn't happen. And it's telling that Richard still hasn't found work. I think that there were some big behind the scenes issue going on with him. I know about the blowup with Ben Bloom and there were reports of friction with Marinelli too, and divide among players. Bloom and Marinelli found work, to the best of my knowledge Richard still hasn't. That speaks volumes.

About 8 early-game offensive sequences doomed the cowboys also. probably more tbh

Undoubtedly, you could blame the players for some of that. Dak was off for a couple of those games, the OL and Zeke were off for a couple - especially considering the amount we have invested. The New England game was lame due to weather, facing the #1 defense and the #1 coach, and the refs making phantom calls, but the one constant was the head coach and the staff in general. Far too conservative, abandoning what was working for no reason at all, and did we ever feel like we had an advantage in the game planning department?

Beyond that, the biggest issue, and I blame Jones and JG for this, is that we never followed up a good year with a great year. The Superbowl teams almost always build. First a good year, then a great year. But, not us, we would have a good year and then we would follow it up with a crappy year. Why? Partly because after we have a good year, Jones acts like we just won a Superbowl - hyping everybody up, handing out fat contracts, etc, and then coach milk toast did nothing to instill discipline or humility, so we collapse.

Should have given Richard full control and let him sink or swim last year. To much locker division with Richard guys and Marinelli guys. Another fail by JG along with the ST.

What does it truly say about our way overpaid Oline and RB???

You might be right overall but I disagree for the last Eagles game specifically. Zeke only got 13 carries that game (5 at halftime) and when I ran the numbers previously (can't recall exactly) I think Zeke's last 6 rushes averaged more than 6 ypc but we didn't keep running him. Yet Dak puts up 44 passes and we muster 9 points. Wentz put up 40 passes (helluva lot better completion percentage) and they still got their backs the ball 24 times. So add in dumb decision-making and inability to see trends in real time.
