Cowboys priorities are clear: offense will have to carry us

Cap resources are heavily tilted towards the offense.

And if they are expecting the draft to fix the defensive woes, it's a flawed plan. One, you won't hit on every pick anyway. Two, rookies rarely make impacts.

They need to be more aggressive in FA on defense but like always what they are doing is just sitting on their *** waiting for the leftover bargain crap to sift through. And they wonder why they continually, year after year after year, field teams that have clear holes.

For example, I am sure they'd love to have Chris Harris to replace Jones. But they'll wait and wait and wait hoping no one signs him, and he comes cheap. But they often get burned there. If they want Harris, go get him. Don't wait for him to come to you.

It's the biggest flaw in this whole new age of Stephen's cap management.
They have to wait on the bargain basement free agents because Stephen and Jerry WAY over pay 4-5 players. We are losing good Defensive players to Free Agency right now, and cannot sign top Defensive Free Agents because of this FLAWED Cap Management philosophy!!
The NE way, as proven, is soooo much smarter. If a good player wants to much money, don’t make him one of the highest paid players at his position! Let him get over paid by someone else. Let him go, trust your personnel Dept. to draft well , trust your coaches to coach up the new players, and take advantage of your comp picks from the players you refused to overpay.
Our ownership gets scared and thinks we can’t win without this guy. Do you think Belicheat thinks this way HEL_ no!! He takes it as a challenge to coach his team up and win with a TEAM not a small handful of superstars. Hel_ Belicheat just let Brady walk!!!! His team will be very successful this year too.

Our Triplets on offense will be expected to carry the team despite whatever defense we can field.

Jerry and Son have clearly laid out their priority and objective along with hiring an offensive minded HC and retaining our OC.
They will.mKe moves for defense. Jones and Quinn just priced themselves too expensive and away. And not worth that much honestly. Theres upgrades to be had for cheaper amounts

It was pretty much the best offense in the league, and there would be no doubt about that if not for JG hamstringing it.
Im really looking forward to our new coaching taking this team to the next level. What could possibly go wrong now.

No, not championships but it will be entertaining.

The Triplets will sell jerseys attracting fringe fans putting up big numbers to slobber over.
exactly..Jerry understands one thing, how to put fannies in the seats and sell merch. That means having a high flying offense, then after that, winning is a happenstance. Until most fans understand that's his mindset, they will be frustrated. His ultimate goal isn't putting together a championship team. Its the glitz and glamour of it all. Glamour sells. He can sell hope year after year, and even if we don't win, he can fall back on his gold jacket. This is Jerrys pickled mind and how it works.

lol exactly. Jerry likely thinks hey, we hired the top coaches..so we don't need top end players. THATS HOW THEY THINK INDEED.

I'm not calling it ....yet. I have a feeling they have at least 2-4 quality defense players on their radar. Remember MM we WILL see changes in the D. My guess is we have not lost one D player he wanted to keep. Sit back and let's see what happens over next week or so.

Yep

Ultimately he’d prefer winning. But if you can’t being relevant and #1 in Revenue is a nice consolation.

REMEMBER THE David Lafleur and Shante Carver picks? THATS JERRY AND STEVIE AND HOW THEY THINK. They try to save a buck thinking they can have a coach coach up a mediocre player and get the desired results. Its been 25 years of this.

This is an exhibit of why Jason Garrett sucks, more than anything.

No it isn’t. Garret had nothing to do with the way the roster was built and how to spend the resources on it. If JJ is paying too much (or over-valuing) his offense, and not enough for his defense...the fault begins and ends there

Relax. It’s day 2 of Free Agency. There are plenty of quality players left on the market. Nobody’s gone that can’t be replaced.

He had everything to do with relying on his defense every single week, when the majority of the talent was on offense.

The idea of spending all your money on offense and then trying to win games 20-14 is so freaking stupid I'll never get over it.
