I really like what the team did.

Start off by not allowing Dak's agent to get a bidding war going and tagging him with the exclusive tag. Thats what his agent was hoping to do. When the deal is done, Dak's 2020 caphit will be around the what it is right now on the tag.

Amari Coopers deal is a home run. Get your mind off the 100mil and look at it, and it could end up being a 2 yr deal worth 40mil. But most likely he goes into yr 3 and gets restructured with an extention giving him more money from the base and trning into SB money since the initial SB is so small. They have done this with Tyron i think twice.

I laugh at the money Byron and Quinn got. 2 stupid teams desperate for players. On one had you have a CB who needs S help or he's toast. And a DE who is virtually unplayable on running downs.

Thank you to the Raiders for taking players dallas very well could've re-signed and been back at point A.

I have no problem with this team going into the yr with Awuzie, Lewis, Brown, and Canady as the 4 CBs. Im sure Dallas will add one in the draft.

Safety is another thing. They need a veteran back there.

Im good with the McCoy signing, but i want to see more. I think Crawford will end up taking a paycut once asked. And i think they're looking to sign a big name either a rusher or a safety. Me im hoping its Clowney. There are alot of good safeties in the draft. Delpit, McKinney, but i like Dugger, and Winfield later in the draft too.

I really dont think this team will want to pay what it would cost for Sanders. I really could see Reagor on this team. Could see Pittman too because i think this team is going to lose Gallup.

Good write up LM!

I'd also mention the Head Coach of the team and the staff he has hired. Moving on from Garrett to McCarthy is a big upgrade. I'm anxious to see all the improvements on the field this summer.

Think coaching is going to make all the difference in the world for this team. When they hired McCarthy i hated it, but i quickly changed when i saw the staff he was bringing in. I really dont think the whiners in this forum realize how good of a coaching staff this is. Now we gotta see if they can all work together without stepping on each others toes. But just looking at this staff its one of the best staffs in the nfl rep wise.

I can't believe Crawford hasn't been renegotiated bigtime, or cut! What in the world?

How are we going to lose Gallup?
I mean, there's finite money. It depends on some factors.

How much does the cap go up by the 2022 offseason is one thing. Are there any contracts we bail out of before then that save us money? Are there any contracts we bail out of before then that cost us money, accelerating dead money that outweighs the base salary savings?

And who else do we want to sign for real money between now and then?

The 2017 draft class will see their contracts run out after the 2020 season. We blew the 1st round pick that year, so no expensive 1st rounder to use a 5th year option on and start thinking about signing him to a costly extension. That simplifies things and makes the class more affordable (for bad reasons, obviously). At this point, we're only talking about CB Awuzie, CB Lewis, S Woods, and WR Brown. I suspect Noah Brown's goose is cooked with a new coaching staff that probably doesn't much care for a WR whose specialty is the running game. Awuzie and Lewis, we have no idea if they'll blow up and play great in Nolan's scheme (making us want to re-sign them, depending on how high their value rises) or if they'll crater and we'll be dying to drop them off at the airport to send them packing. I imagine Xavier Woods is the only guy in this bunch we care to extend. He'll be costly, but not insanely so (unless he blows up in Nolan's defense, in which case we might be even happier to extend him at that point).

The 2018 class Gallup was apart of obviously then hits their decisive offseason. LVE costs us a pretty penny (11-ish million, I think) to exercise his 5th year option, assuming he's even still playing with his health concerns. I imagine we let Conor Williams walk, unless he's kicked out to a tackle position and becomes vital. But more likely we let him walk and replace him with a nice mid-round draft pick type of kid. Schultz is probably on his way out too. Dorance Armstrong walks assuming he hasn't become a key pass-rushing piece. Cedrick Wilson is gone unless he wins a top-3 WR job and plays well enough to impress (but not so well to cost more than he's worth to us).

I mean, unless we go crazy spending crazy money in the 2021 free agent class, I don't know if I see any big enough expenditures coming along that make us too poor to think about extending Gallup.

With the cap figuring to rise and without the 2017 or 2018 draft classes poised to gobble up big money, the coast might be clear for Gallup to get his extension.

And it's always possible that we get Gallup cheaper than expected, relatively speaking, if we decide to make him an offer after his 3rd year and if he's impatient enough to take a lesser offer just because he wants to get paid sooner. You never know. Some guys have the patience and some don't.

K.J. Hill from Ohio St. could be a good slot receiver to replace Cobb. He was the schools all time receiving leader.
KJ Hill is very slow for a receiver, much less a slot receiver. He ran a 4.60 40 at the combine. Not good.

I have concerns with Awuzie. Chido can't even remotely compensate for the loss of Jones when you look at his coverage lapses throughout last season.

In regards to Gallup, do third round picks have a fifth year option? Can't remember if that's limited to only first and second round picks.

Where did this story start that Jones only succeeded because he had safety help?

As of this moment he’s the only RDE on this roster with any starting experience or real NFL caliber RDE. If they can sign someone else and Randy Gregory gets reinstated - I think Crawford will 100% be cut.

Yea that’s simply not true, I don’t know why people on this forum think Byron was a bum - I guess because he was playing the wrong position (Safety) for his first 2 years? Byron was a stud at CB and we might learn the hard way how important he was to this defense.

Completely agree, saving Jerry’s $ >> having talent on the field
That is so not true. Jerry's always spent big sometimes too big. Stephen has reigned him in some in an effort to better manage the salary cap.

And he's not very sudden but he is one of the better route technicians in the draft with tons of production against good competition, has sure hands, and could be there on day three.

Overview
Words like "dependable," "reliable," and "consistent" work well to describe Ohio State's all-time catch leader. He's a slot worker who is most effective in space, where his route savvy and sticky hands can make their mark. He's not sudden or special with the ball in his hands underneath and won't stretch defenses vertically, so the routes may need to go from good to great for him to become more than a solid backup.

Meh. Hill only accumulated 600 yards receiving last year.

I would rather have Quez Watkins.

Quez Watkins*, WR, Southern Miss
Height: 6-0. Weight: 185. Arm: 32.88. Hand: 9.
40 Time: 4.36.
Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
3/7/20: Watkins was a solid producer for Southern Miss in 2019, totaling 64 receptions for 1,178 yards with six touchdowns. In 2018, he had 72 catches for 889 yards and nine scores. Watkins came through with an impressive combine performance, according to sources, and had an electric 40 time.
