Rex Ryan's 'turd' comment reflects an extinct coaching mentality
Understandably, former Jets and Bills head coach and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan's comment on Friday morning regarding Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper got Ryan a lot of flak on social media,

Ryan then said that the Cowboys should have paid quarterback Dak Prescott instead, and insisted that, because the 2020 receiver class is deep, Cooper is relatively replaceable. Ryan concluded by calling the Cooper deal “a huge mistake.”
There’s a lot to go over in this. First of all, one of the reasons former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was fired was his, shall we say, unconventional use of offensive personnel. There were times last season when Cooper wasn’t on the field when he should have been in key moments, and unless Garrett had a specific beef with Cooper’s ability to help the offense in those situations, it’s hard to blame that on the player.
