Kirks contract and Gallup’s contract will both be up in 2 years. That’s the same time that the Cowboys have an out in Coopers contract. No real point here, just a statement. Also, get him for a 4th or 5th and keep the first 3 picks for defense. Anything higher than a 4th for a guy with 2 years left on his contract in a WR rich draft class is way too much.

I'd do a 3rd if we get a pick in return as well. Would be all over it with a 4th.

Initially I was kind of confused why either team would do it.

But then you look deeper......

With the addition of Hopkins, drafted Isabella last year, still got Larry....they could afford to get rid of Kirk. Not sure why they would but it seems like this year there would be not much for him there. So if you can get a 3rd or 4th for him from some team....makes sense. Then use that pick to get another receiver and have him for 4 years.....

From the Cowboys perspective.....allows them to nab a guy they liked just a few years ago. Wouldn't have to use a high pick on a wide receiver. Still relatively cheap. Young.

For it to make sense for the Cowboys its going to have to take some low compensation. Maybe a 4th or 5th.
well done post.
ARI has WR depth but so does this draft class.

Notes:
Kirk was a 5 star HS WR from Arizona.
He played at TAMU with Kyler Murray.
If he is on the block from his home team and former collegiate QB...

All that said he is a legit KR option and can be a solid WR3.
Round 4 and I'd do it. Ideally a future R3 pick(i'm getting a comp for BJ31 so can lose my standard R3 next year).

But I like WR options in round 3 just fine and they have full rookie contract clocks.

This team has little to show for the last 3 drafts so I am in for the right compensation.

Seems consensus is a 4th rounder as compensation. I was a fan of Kirk coming from A&M. I think that's a solid move, but I wouldn't get into a bidding war with those WR thirsty Commanders. Also the fit would be Cobb like.

Yeah I’ll have to be honest for the future it makes no sense. I’m not sure how many more years Larry has but he can’t have enough to where I’d get rid of Kirk. Too cheap IMO.

Slot receivers don’t usually have fast 40 times....I’d even go as far to say a 4.4 is rather fast for a slot. Beasley surely wasn’t that fast.
True...but I would prefer a faster WR who can play all 3 WR spots in case 1 goes down with injury.

If Kirk is so good, why are the Cardinals willing to trade him instead of some other WRs? It's not like the Cardinals are that good to begin with.

This team wants to have as many guys as they can count-on on the roster, and as of right now there is no dependable WR3/Slot guy on a contract. Drafting someone in round 3/4 isn’t going to guarantee us a dependable player, no matter how deep this draft is.

McCarthy has said before he likes his base personnel to be 11, meaning 3 WR’s. Our slot guy is basically a starter, you have to make sure you have a contributor there or the explosiveness we showed at times last year is probably not going to have the same potential.

Kirk is a proven player with upside remaining as he is young, fast, plays 3 spots, can run routes, and has good hands. His issues have been injury related. If we could trade a 4th for him, I do it because if he walks we probably get a 4/5th round compensatory pick.

He's a holdover from the era before Kingsbury aka "not one of his guys."

They have Fitz, Hopkins, and just drafted Hakeem Butler and Andy Isabella last year. They have a logjam at WR.

Exactly. And one who can play all 3 WR positions if need be in case Cooper or Gallup go down with injury. Kill 3 birds with 1 stone.
He can play 3 positions lol he’s great at the Z and is a serviceable X but not his strength. He’s more than versatile enough especially with PR/KR ability.

Draft Denzel Mims (6'3", 210, 4.38 40, big, strong, proved at the Senior Bowl and at the Combine that he can run all routes and get separation very well when he chooses to, can play all 3 WR positions (X, Y and Z (as a big slot WR)), would be a much bigger/easier target for Dak who tends to throw high at times, etc. Imagine a shorter/slower DB trying to cover him?

But, nah, let's go with a shorter/slower WR because that is the prototype common standard.
