I hated not getting defensive help, but I also understand Lamb was hard to pass up. Hopefully much of the rest of the draft will go to defense, and who knows, this may cause them to pursue another free agent on defense that they wouldn't have if they hadn't landed Lamb.

I looked at what came after for the rest of the round and didn't see anything I liked anyway. Would have rather had Kinlaw, but he was already gone.

Sorry Jerrah. Not sure how valuable a 3rd receiver is in the first round when you just paid $100M to your #1 WR and you also have another guy that will probably command more looks in Gallup. The right call would have been to trade down for more value. I'm not questioning the guy's talent but the return he will provide when Dallas is a run first with Zeke.

You literally just defined his value lol. Aside from being an ****** stud in his own right, he’s insurance against both Amari and Gallup’s contracts.

LFG!!!!

Cowboys nailed this pick. Thank you for not overthinking it Jerry. Had him as the #1 WR in this class. Never thought he’d be available. Absolute stud who was a big-play machine at OU. Will slide right into the slot position vacated by Randall Cobb. Excellent pick.

Grade: A+

When I saw he was falling to us, I was BEGGING on my Stream for us to get him! Wow!!! He's a beast! Knows the route tree. Can play anywhere at WR. Oh, and between him, Coop, and Gallup, there's no shortage of WR weapons for Dak. Add in Zeke and Jarwin, and we have an absolute powerhouse on offense. Dak has the weapons on offense to get the job done. Now, we need defence. Xavier McKinney and Antoine Winfield are still on the board. I'd love it if either are there at our 2nd round spot. Then get DE Elliott from Missouri in round 3, and we're in for a fun season imo.

Im very intrigued by this pick. A huge talent added to an already explosive offense. Coop, gallup, lamb, zeke, pollard......pretty stacked as far as wr and rb if you ask me!

Coop, gallup, lamb, zeke, pollard

Run n shoot with Pollard as a WR/RB hybrid. Giggity. I doubt that's what we're getting, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

and all the people that like this post

I have their name etched into my memory and likes will be withheld
I'm as critical of this Front Office as any Cowboys fan alive but I try to remain objective (I may be kind of occasionally, guilty of sarcasm or exaggeration for effect) as possible.

This was a home run pick! At 17??? Are you kidding me?

The CB run is already happening and a good chance we don't get a quality one at 51. Still, I wouldn't change a thing. We had three trade offers and didn't bite. Stephen said himself they went through several simulations and not once was Lamb there at 17. I would not hate it if we jumped into the 40s and took Delpit, Diggs, McKinney, or Jaylon Johnson.

Hope like heck we can get a defensive starter and defensive contributor tomorrow.

Well it appears that JJ & Co turned the table on Philly by taking CeeDee at 17 just in front of a team who DESPERATELY needs help at wide receiver...…….HA-HA!!!!!!! That will teach old Philly to mess with JJ...…….. Now we need CeeDee to come in a kick ***!!!!!!

Sticking it to Philly does brighten any day.

Sometimes you gotta punt on a need in a draft. Our biggest need at CB was a long term #1 CB. I think we may have had to punt on that even before we our pick was up when Henderson went.

We do need strong players that can become #2 or #3 CB's due to Awuzie and Lewis's expiring deals. I still think we will have an opportunity to get those kind of guys in the 2nd or 3rd

A trade up for Diggs is something I would consider. I think he does have some #1 CB potential. More so than Gladney does (who I do like). So I think Gladney over Diggs helps us

And FWIW Fisher was talking up Chinn as a potential 2nd round target earlier today

Off topic: Zeke finna run against dime defenses. When he gets to the 2nd level DBs will make business decisions

This is one of the many things that always annoyed me about GarrettBall. The concept of forcing the defense to put smaller players on the field *when you wanted to run* was entirely alien to him.

  1. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

Speed and Quickness: A. Lamb's fourth gear in the open field allows him to get away from anyone. He has quick feet upon release and can eat up a cushion when his cornerback is in off coverage.

Routes and Releases: B. Lamb is at his best when he's shaking away from coverage late in the down or during Jalen Hurts scrambles. He doesn't show a great deal of variety off his release, but he doesn't need to. Weaker defenders are almost falling backward at the snap to make sure he does not get past them.

Hands: A+/C split.Lamb mixes incredible 50-50 ball capability with a tendency to suffer a concentration drop late in key games (Kansas State and LSU) and come up just short on contested balls. He's the kind of receiver who looks like Randy Moss on the highlight reel but will break your heart twice per month.

YAC Potential: A++. Lamb gets used as the screen/reverse receiver often, and he creates shake-'n'-bake touchdowns when it appears that he has nowhere to run. He can also spin and wrestle away from defenders after deep catches.

Blocking and such: C+. Lamb was a willing stalk-blocker on runs and Hurts read-options, but he sometimes whiffs badly. He will get feisty and will try to pancake his cornerback at times.

Lamb has many of the best and worst traits of Odell Beckham Jr. on the field. He's thrilling every time he touches the ball, but unless he becomes more consistent, ill-timed drops and slumps will be frustrating. When they are on, Lamb and Amari Cooper will be one of the best receiver tandems in the NFL. But heaven help Dak Prescott if their slumps line up just so. Still, this is an exciting pick and an example of selecting the best player on the board instead of just drafting for need.

In other words, Jerry may have the last laugh after all.

    Grade: A
