Always thought the equipment manager handed out numbers, and maybe Jerry had nothing to do with it. :muttley:
Did Lamb really want #10 like reported, did Jerry really persuade him to take #88?

Guess fans need to get all in an uproar over it. Just to knock Jerry.
I don't really care one way or the other. Just having fun looking at the comments.

If the guy wants to wear 10 then he will wear 10. I do not get why Jerry is insisting on him wearing 88 other than the dude has the same last time lol. They didn't even go to the same college as one another. This is just Jerry being stupid, he should stick to picking draft picks on his boat alone since he did a good job of that.

Bottom line is let the player pick his destiny.

Oh please.

Jersey #s are important to players and fans.

Imagine seeing Emmitt Smith in a 24 jersey. Yuck.

Do you really think Jerry strong armed CeeDee and gave him no choice? I’m sure there was a conversation and by the end of it CeeDee was more than happy with 88 and forgot the #10 even exists. The contents of the conversation the NFL doesn’t need to know..

And as far and you and other fans’ opinions on what # a player wears? Again, who cares?

Put me down as hoping he would have gotten #10, but we are assuming a lot by saying this was forced on Lamb. Who knows what his thoughts on this was, or if he even knew #88 was an option when he mentioned #10. Who knows if anyone else besides Jerry has had a conversation with Lamb that could have changed his mind...Irvin maybe?

Oh No, conspiracy theory...CeeDee Lamb had #88 forced upon him. ESPN & NFLN will have months worth of material now.

Secret audio of how Jerry forced #88 upon Dez will emerge, from a Walmart parking lot camera from years ago, as he too wanted to wear #10.

Zeke gets 6 games suspension as he pulled off the #88 jersey off of Lamb in protest and handed it to Dez.

You heard it here first.

Exactly,,, could be that CeeDee changed his mind for any number of reasons. I'd like to think he likes the idea...

Maybe he really wanted 88 but didn't want that to be the first thing he said. Maybe he wanted it offered to him, so he said a different number so as we the fans didn't think he was full of himself for wanting to part of the 88 club.

Either way, I think it is just silly to argue about what number a player wears. Most players don't give a crap about their number, only if they have made it part of their marketing play, like 21 with Deion. And no, i wouldn't give a rats behind if players got to wear 12, 8, 22 or 74.

Terrible in so many ways.

He doesn’t want to wear it.

It won’t look as good as 10.

It’s still too soon to give someone that number and they disrespect Dez again.

Nothing about this sits right with me.
umm I thought that but after retrospect , they started giving this to anybody's many moons ago, remember Antonio Bryant, pretty sure he got it..CEEDEE will wear it well but dont understand if he wants 10 why cant he have it? why force 88 on the guy? it should be reserved for great WRs and he is a #1 pick debatably the best WR in the draft so its cool with me..

its not disrespectful as the nfl has limited number for each postion and they cant save/retire them them all..

Did you not watch the post draft conference where when asked about the jersey number that Jerry said he wants him in #88 for his dead friend and "tradition"?

And it's pretty easy to change your mind when you don't have a choice.

It's Jerry once again trying to create greatness by recreating the past.

It will fail.

In a way, I think it's good to see, in terms of his showing appreciation to his owner for honoring him with a cherished old number. Needless to say, it's one that has commanded much respect, aside from that of Jerry's old friend. Cee Dee's act of humility is worthy of praise, imho. ;)

Jerry will get what he wants. Jerry's teammate who recently died wore #88, and Jerry wants to honor his friend. I get it.

However, in the past it’s been to honor the great WRs that wore #88. Wish they would just retire that number and let him wear the number he wants.

A lot of softness in this thread..

Lamb can wear whatever his employer wants him to wear as his work uniform.. unless it disrespects him with any of work privileges like any other job.

I have a work uniform at my place of employment. I can’t complain I want a certain brand or how I want the lettering font of my name on it.
