Being so called being boxed has nothing to do with out WR but more about conservative ball control game plan. Cooper has speed, Gallup had no problems getting deep and Lamb will only add to it. I think Ruggs is a very good prospect but I will gladly take Lamb joining Cooper and Gallup in the lineup. I don't see the Cowboys WR core as any kinds of weakness.

It’s not a weakness. Our offense just lacks speed. Simple.

We have a RB that’s lost his explosiveness, a QB that’s not explosive unless we’re playing NYG or WSH, and our receivers are average to above average speed.

Most CBs in the league run 4.4 minimum.
Ahhhhh :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Some fools just never learn.

It doesn't matter what a guy's 40 time is.
It's their speed on the field in pads that matters.

Were Jerry Rice and John Taylor track stars? No
And how many Super Bowls did they win?

Flip-side :
How many times have the Raiders drafted track guys that couldn't play football?

Didn't we win some championship trophies with "slow" guys like Mike Irvin and Alvin Harper?

Nuff said.....:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

None of our top three receivers are slow. Amari has been clocked under 4.40. Gallup and Lamb are a consistent 4.5 and play faster than that. If they get a step on most defenders they’re gone. Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 but he played much faster than that. Michael Irvin ran a 4.5 and still ran away from defenders. The fastest receiver the Cowboys had in the early 90s was Alexander Wright who reportedly ran under a 4.2 and he was our worst receiver. Neither Irvin or Alvin Harper were burners. Drew Pearson and Tony Hill weren’t burners. Can’t understand why anyone would complain about the speed of our receivers when they had no trouble getting open and our top two had 1000 yard seasons.

Cooper does not lack speed. He time at a 4.38 I have yet to see defenders catch him from behind.

Dallas has accumulated too many WRs that are lesser clone of each other and really do not compliment the players on the roster fully.

This offense needs true speed and right now just about every team has WRs that runS 4.4 NFL WRs. Dallas should acquire someone like J.J Nelson 4.2 forty time that can blow the top off defense consistently.

Another option is to trade Gallup who really is a #3 with CD in the building and the front office shouldn’t overpay for a consistent ball dropping #3 receiver.

The Dallas WRs are all pretty fast. Austin was really fast but he sucked at football. I agree that having a pure burner would be nice but not necessary. Whatever happened to Smith? He looked good when he got a chance and he is fast.

I think the group is fine but I will agree that having a change of pace burner would be a nice add.

JJ Nelson is an average receiver at best. He’s never caught more than 34 passes for 568 yards. In five seasons he only has just over 1400 receiving yards. He’s done virtually nothing the past two seasons. The Cowboys brought in Deonte Thompson prior to the 2018 season who was a speed burner. The guy couldn’t play and ended up being cut. There’s more to playing WR than speed. The addition of Lamb gives us arguably the best top 3 WRs in the league. All three have more than enough speed. We’ve had Tavon Austin the past two seasons and he has a great speed. We don’t have a slow receiving corp.

Speed is overrated in this situation because all three starters are excellent route runners. Cooper & Lamb are monsters with yards after catch. All three have adequate speed they just are not burners.

Route running is more important than speed. The greatest WRs in history weren’t all burners.

Play design, route running and QB play are the biggest factors when it comes to a wideout’s success.

The Raiders had a period where they were obsessed with speed at the WR position yet didn’t translate to success on the field.

Our receivers are fine.

Jesus Christ..........this is not the time of the year to trade guys. You do not get the most of your value. Gallup, Lamb and Amari have fine speed. You don't need 4.2 speed to be fast.
Especially when good route running can more than compensate for speed, in most cases.

if you run great routes and adjusments within and offense the defender cant stay with you its called separation and then you get 2 steps on them even at close to the same speed you have beat the DB badly.. its what most WRs do that are great..we have 3 now that are far more then possession WRs, they know how to make their first 2 steps and then a break that will leave a DB behind 2 -4 steps, thats all it takes..

Let review Great route running, plus great breaks, and then ability to adjust and catch the ball.. thats agreat WR..its noice to have a guy who only can run 9s all day but that not a polished WR, our offense ie West coast vs timing hybrid, we a have the Wrs to beat anyone..

stop worrying abut speed all the time. field speed trumps that..

The Raiders are still going through that. They just took a speed receiver with their top pick who had at least two receivers rated ahead of him. Several years ago they took Heyward-Bey over a more highly rated Michael Crabtree because of speed and that blew up in their face.

Mike Williams led all WR’s in yards per catch last year and he’s a 4.5 guy. AJ Brown was 2nd and runs a 4.49. Kenny Golladay was 3rd and runs a 4.5.

Our own Michael Gallup was 7th and runs a 4.5.

CeeDee had over 21 yards a catch last year. Explosive plays won’t be a problem for our trio of WR’s. Even Jarwin is capable of big plays.

Put down the Xbox controllers.
