Honestly, with everything now going on around the country, and with the league, this may be the best alternative for this year.

Kirk Cousins’ advice to Dak Prescott: Franchise tag can be your friend
Posted by Charean Williams on May 8, 2020, 4:29 PM EDT
Kirk Cousins played under the franchise tag twice, in 2016 and again in 2017, before leaving for the Vikings in free agency in 2018. He originally signed a three-year, $84 million deal with the Vikings before agreeing to a two-year, $66 million extension this offseason.

It worked out for Cousins, who was the first quarterback to play under the franchise tag since Drew Brees in 2005 with the Chargers. That worked out for Brees, too.

What I worry about Dak if he's playing on the franchise tag that he will be playing careful, not to risk any injury. Last season he looked very hesitant running the football, more so then what we seen in the prior years. He is a dual threat QB and needs to use his legs if opportunity presents itself.

so basically we should just cut to the chase and announce Dalton the starter. Why give Dak 2 years on the tag, let him get his record contract elsewhere.

Sign dak or trade him. No point in tagging him Otherwise

*sigh*

How many times are we going to go over this?

He not under contract, so the Cowboys can't trade him. He's a tagged free agent. He hasn't signed anything.

Taking an advice from Kirk is like taking an advice from Larry Flynt abut morality

If they didn't want to sign him they should've traded him last year tbh. The season was over 5-6 weeks in they could've traded him when he was putting up #s They knew what the price was going to be.

They are going to sign him buddy. This all to do over nothing.

Honestly, this is all wasted talk. Neither Jerry or Dak are going to let this roll into the season.

cousins has a doctorate in screwing nfl franchises out if their money.
I guess dak has a choice be a good to great qb that has a great team around him at a fair salary.

Option 2. He can be like cousins, screw your team for years and move on to the next victim. never have any respect. But hell he will be rich.

I think he'll get signed also.

If Jerry caved for Zeke, you know he is caving for Dak. And as long as Dak doesnt get more than an average of 35 million, its market. 33 million would probably be just right considering other contracts and the level. 2 million either way isn't going to do anything.

I agree but no question the stakes are raised but comes with the territory. Something he going to see real quick is the level of expectation will be 10x higher from what they were prior to his contract/new salary. That's the pressure that comes with it.

I'll stick with Don Padron fresh from the refrigerator door followed by a salt shaker chaser...
DeLeon Leona. You owe it to yourself at least once in your life. But please, don't ruin it with salt or a squeeze of lime. That would be sacrilege.

Dak has been planning on pulling a Kirk Cousins since this started. I think they have the same agent.

I'm don't know if that's entirely true, but at this point I don't change my offer. He can take it, sign the tag, or sit out (unlikely).

Dalton is a decent insurance policy. There's no need to cave...but I still won't be surprised if the Cowboys cave, anyway.

Daks not going to turn down $31 million

Dak played for 2mil last year with a long term contract of 30mil+ on the table. I expect he's perfectly happy to play for $31m this year and let it ride again.
