Just because the rams and Eagles made horrible contract mistakes on wentz and Goff doesn't mean we have too. I'm sure both teams would love to redo those contracts.

Forget the stats good or bad, Dak hasn't shown the capability to lift this team up...period.... He's surrounded by ridiculous talent. No need to pay the man now. Let's see what he can do under good coaching.

No team is going to give him what he wants or what dallas has already offered
Coff and Wince deals will look like deals in 2 to 3 years. This is how Jerry has manipulated the cap for years by offering high dollar contracts for extended years. He got over on Zeke with this strategy but Players like McCaffery that have good agents got a shorter deal but still is the highest paid RB in the NFL. NBA players have been doing this for years and NFL agents are bringing this to the attention of their clients. Once it happens with a high profile player like Dak the dominoes will fall through out the league.

Romo was paid the higest GTD and Aikman was the highest paid period in 93 and 99.

If Fish report is true would be 5yr 175m. If the 106m GTD is true that would be 60% of his total contract GTD, That is ****. Lol Even if you go north of Goff and go high, and say its 115m, its still only 65% and that is still ****. Wentz got 84% of his total contract GTD and Goff got 82%. If they just go under that on Dak with 80% GTD it would be 140m GTD, far off from 106m or even 115.

If they want to reset that market back down to what Wilson got 76%, Rogers 73%, and give Dak under that with 70%, it would still be 123m GTD. Hell, Tannehill just got 77% and that would put Daks at 135m GTD. So unless the GTD is AT LEAST 123m GTD, its not worth Dak to sign a 5 yr deal

If Fish report is true and its a 35m a yr with 106m GTD and its just about they years, then that says Dak is fine with the 106m GTD but wants it on a 4yr deal, which is fair. Its under market(Goff&Wentz) on the % of GTD and under market on the $s. That would put the % at 75% which was the market was before Goff and Wentz deals and still lower % than what Tannehll just signed. Its lower in $s than Wilson, Wentz and Goff. So if hes ok with that, and from this report he is, just wants it on a 4yr deal not a 5, then the Cowboys are holding this up by wanting a 5yr deal that puts it way under market on the GTD.

Stop paying attention the "sexy" total contract number and avg annual. The 106m GTD on 5yr deal is pure ****. If he takes it on a 4yr deal, its still under market in both % of total contract GTD and the overall $s.
Just a great post! Wow you must be an Certified capoligist or agent

Good stuff

Starting to think this is a way for CAA to really make a name for themselves & show other players that they’re willing to ‘play hardball’ for their clients. A deal should’ve been done over a year ago.
CAA don't need to play hardball. They are established and successful because the get their clients the best deal......Todd France served Romo very well.

No, I wouldn't...……….honest answer.

But correct me if I am wrong, but were Aikman or Romo ever the highest paid players in the league, even when they signed new deals?

I dont think so...………….neither one of them ever demanded what Dak is demanding now.
This is nonsense....do some research or better yet read and research before you spout nonsense. Here are Romo's numbers

Troy's aren't hard to find either..Google bro

I dont believe this Fish thing.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...get-for-a-long-term-dak-prescott-deal-or-not/

For those who dont want to click on the link here is a quote from Stephen.

“There’s all sorts of analytics out there that show if your quarterback takes up too big a percentage of your salary cap, it decreases your chances to win,” Jones said. “We’re just trying to figure out the right fit. No one wants to sign Dak to a longer term deal more than Jerry and myself. We’re on the record time and time again on what we think of him as a leader. He has the ‘it’ factor. He’s a fierce competitor. He wants to win as well, and it’s just gotta be right for him and right for us. We’ll continue to work to a conclusion on that.”

Dak:

Take the 5 years.
Put in the contract - that the Cowboys win SB in 3 years the final year is voided.

Bet on yourself.

That is not betting on yourself, that is betting on the people around you. No one EVER has done that. He bet on himself last offseason by not signing then and seems to be betting on himself now (though I would not sign that deal even at 4 years). He is probably going to win his bet on himself. He has maximum leverage right now and the moment he signs a contract that goes away so why a contract and end the bet.

Am I missing something or your proposed number is off? Not much of a discount for a shorter contract. I would say 4 yrs but average less than $30 million per yer. It’s a bet on himself.
Yes, you're missing a lot of things.

I think the word is out that JJ is a gullible push over and filthy rich leading players to take advantage of him.

$35 mill a year and over $100 million guaranteed and the dude is saying "nah, not good enough
".:omg:

Seriously, is there anybody on this board that thinks Dak is worth this type of coin? Being the highest paid player in the history of the entire NFL?

Dude has one playoff win...………..ONE PLAYOFF WIN!!!!!

I'm sorry, but Dak is not worth this much, he just aint. I like the guy, have his jersey I wear on gamedays, but no way in hell am I making Dak the highest paid player in the history of the league. Call me hater all you want, but dude aint worth it.

Do we know for a fact all of this is 100% true?????? Remember reports that DLaw was looking for a contract that wold have made him the highest-paid defensive player. Not knocking your post but we've seen numbers all over the place and the truth is as much as Fish wants everyone to believe he has special connections inside The Star, he doesn't anymore than the rest of us.

I think Dak's agent is swinging for the fence and Dak is just playing along. One year on the five year deal is worth more than the tag, so I expect Dak to sign the deal on the last day possible.

Yup. He's not currently worth that. I like him as well. If he gets paid like that he sure as hell better produce. If he doesn't the fans and media will run him out of town first chance they get. Right now hes playing with house money. This contract redefines the perimeters of the Cowboy's relationship with Dak.

It isn't only about the cap. Once he signs that deal we are all in. Every single young stud on the roster will have their level of team success attached to Dak for better or worse. The novelty of having a young 4th rounder come in and shock the world has passed. Now its time to become consistent and elite. He holds the fate of the franchise on his arm.

In reality the difference between 32 million and 35 million isn't huge, but the drawn out, highly publicized process has made it huge. Most fans that dont share polar views of Dak, like him, but recognize he needs to improve. After this contract immediate expectations will sky rocket.

None of these morons have the slightest idea what is going on in these negotiations. Why people keep thinking they do is beyond me. Dak and his agent aren’t talking. That leaves Stephen just running his mouth and changing the story every two weeks.
