Yes, the Giants took a gamble on Eli and won. At first Eli struggled and it looked like he might be a bust, but he came through for his team in the long run. He was a high quality quarterback and a champion.
A gamble for a high 1st round pick ?

Eli was a no- brainer. Despite the criticism he took on these forums he not only put up some fine career stats but he won a couple championships.

And probably enough to land him in the HOF. Not a 1st ballot but down the road. No other QB in this era from division can state as much.
Eli won big games Romo did not....period.

There are a lot more. For some weird reason, YouTube got rid of several lengthy videos that showed Romo's game costing interceptions and his total interceptions from 2011 - 2013. Obviously, many complained to get those video off.
I just watched the 2015 opening game against the Giants comeback victory on NFL Game Pass. I've been watching a lot of games lately. Now that Dak haters point out inaccurate passes it's kind of hard to avoid noticing all the inaccurate passes Romo throws. He threw behind receivers 4-5 times that game, one resulting in a tipped interception at the end of the first half, and overthrew a couple of receivers. I had blamed Dez for a dropped ball in the red zone when he was wide open on 3rd down, but the ball was behind him and now I know receivers shouldn't be expected to turn back for the ball and catch it.

A QB's body of work is going to be measured mostly by the big games he has won, fair or unfair. Eli won as many Super Bowls as Romo won playoff games, and thats going to trump alot of things to alot of people

It's been comical to see the anti-Dak Romoholics accuse Dak of being badly inaccurate with some of his throws, yet they forget how much worse Romo was many a times that led to losses.

If you only play in 73 out of a possible 160 games in a decade you aren't likely to be the best player at your position during that time span. Romo was a very good QB, but his playing time did not comprise the majority of any one decade. His career straddled two different decades. From 2010 to 2019, the Cowboys won 40 games with Romo at QB and 40 games with Prescott at QB. Maybe if they went from 2005 to 2014, then maybe Romo gets the nod over that 10 year span. Romo played in 124 of 160 games during that time period.

This is a pretty sad troll, even considering how big of a troll the OP is. It must be a pretty slow day on Twitter to not be able to find some kind of Dak propaganda to spam. Instead we get this for the daily troll

There’s no controversy here, Eli is the easy choice. Romo never took a meaningful snap beyond 2014 and shouldn’t even qualify for consideration. Manning’s career spanned the entire decade, even if he was pretty rotten for a lot of it. And it was definitely not a decade of great QB stability for the Skins or Eagles.
Yea bashing Romo is his second favorite trolling after slobbering over Dak. He’s already begun his personal insults. It’s not enough that we agree Eli was the right choice.

Please give examples of games where the rest of the team was playing great and Romo single handedly lost the game. The only one I can think of is against the Lions which I really wouldn't call a big game.
Romo did not win many big games. He is historically known for not winning the big game.
2006 against Seattle
2007 against the Giants
2009 against the Vikings
2012 against the Skins
2014 against the Packers
2011 opening game against the Jets
2008 against Pittsburgh
2012 Loss to Broncos.. 51-48 I believe.
week 17 losses to Giants, Skins, Eagles in different years
These are just the games that come to mind for me..

Romo was a good qb when the requirement was to be great. Whatever excuse you want to make he was not able to get it done whether is be talent around him, coaching issues, tactical issues, his own mistakes.
A career of coming up short when it matters is what it is. I personally loved him as a fan, thought he was super talented and always thought he could compete with the best of them. He obviously has a great mind just watching his analysis.

Makes sense to me. Romo had a long enough career to expose him as a small game type player. He froze n the big moments and went Houdini to a fault .... It was his absolute M.O...

this isn't supported by anything.
people really still parrot this?
we have the worst fans ever.

LOL, is this real life? If you are just going to list the final game of every season that didn’t end in a Super Bowl then every QB in NFL history is going to have a list as long as their arm. We need an IQ test for this board, pronto.

I thought he was a lock after the last super bowl. But he played so badly after that I thought he was in a position to knock himself out of the hall.

But most likely, people will forget the bad years when it comes time to vote.

Playing in NY and QB'ing Goodell's team might get him a 1st ballot. Don't underestimate the power of the crooked NY press. Many will overlook the fact that Elisha's TD total was equal to his TO total (TO's = int's + fumbles). He was very, very lucky to play on 2 teams with really dominant D's in his SB wins. Also Elisha's 2011 season he had very strong stats.
