But not all are negotiating a new contract now. Wentz wasn’t a better QB than Mahomes a month ago, he had just negotiated a new contract more recently.

This is why I wonder how much the unknown ramifications of Covid caused the FO to punt on this contract this offseason. Depending on revenue this year, the cap may go down over the next few seasons, and there is simply less pie available for players overall. If that happens-- then the market will get reset and have to adjust for the loss in revenue.

I am not saying this is going to happen, but just maybe the unknowns caused them to pause before committing so much to one player.

I think that’s a very real possibility.

QBs get paid more than other positions, and he’s not ranked as the #46 QB. Plus, pay Is not a ranking system anyway. If 2 QBs are near the same level the one negotiating a contract more recently is pretty certain to make more than one that negotiated his deal a year or two earlier.
Hey!...sounded better in my head tbh
:D

Hope Dak and his agent, Todd France, take note of how many QBs are ranked higher than Dak. They then should consider some introspection regarding their approach to Dak's contract demands. But I doubt they will.
That's not how it works for QB's. The next in line gets a bigger deal. This isn't new news.

I don't see any buyers for what his contract demands are.

At the very best we'd probably get a second rounder.
How would buyers be possible if he's under the tag?

Most likely, the top 100 QBs on this often weird list are:

?Mahomes
?Wilson
?Rodgers
?Brees
?Jackson
?Watson
?Brady
?Ryan

41) Garopollo
46) Prescott
58) Cousins
68) Tannehill
87) Allen
90) Murray

Guys I’ll guess for sure won't make it (not in order)

Stafford (injury..belongs on the list), Roethlisberger (injury), Wentz, Carr, Goff, Lock, Newton (injury), Bridgewater, Darnold, Mayfield, Burrow, Rivers, Tua, Jones, Minshew, Foles/Trubisky, Haskins

A hugely flawed agent-driven system that needs to be fixed.

The concept of "next man up", regardless of how good they are, is beyond silly.
The agents are winning on that front.

Being #46 seems a good place to be, although, a bit questionable if it qualifies one as belonging in the "elite" category!
