2008
Owens 1052 Witten 952 Crayton 550

2009
Austin 1320 Witten 1030 Crayton 622 Williams 596

2011

2019

Did you really have to spell Crayt@n$ name out fully ? Still see visions of that bum dropping a key wide open 3rd down pass in the Giant playoff game in our 13-3 season....and he decides to pull up on the route to the end zone at the end of the game when Romo threw the perfect potential winning TD pass to him.....if numb nuts had just run the route...

that was his worst game of his career. Its just a bummer. I was then and am now a fan of patrick crayton. He never backed down to anyone and he gave it back to the giants in those years.

countless players on every team in every sport have had a day like crayton had. he made three crucial mistakes and thats ok. It was tough to take for a long time but its ok. The giants proved how good they were and there was no shame in losing to that defense.

I think barring injuries..

its the only way we will win.

They're underestimating the oline. Smith and Martin are perennial. Collins was great and by the end of the season was Pro Bowl level too. Williams keeps improving. The only real question is center, and we've got 3 guys for that, a good floor in Looney, and potential upside in Biadasz and McGovern.

Also, I don't like the "run it through Zeke" idea. Spread it around. Enough of predictability. Enough of "we do what we do". What we should do is attack all of the field with all the weapons we have all the time. We've got *tons* of weapons on offense.

Put in Pollard in place of Jarwin as the 5th man, and we're a balanced run/pass offense with crazy weapons across the board. We can attack all the field horizontally and vertically. We can pound it. We can run wide. We can go deep. We can West coast the yac. Even the QB can run.

Time for the anti Garrett offense. We can do everything with one set of personnel, we can do it all well, and you won't know what's coming.

It's taken years for Crayton's pull up on the winning TD against the Giants to be generally recognized, but now everyone knows we were a Crayton screw up away from winning that game.

Screwups at WR that year changed Cowboys history for the worse, wasting the Team that Parcells Built.
First, Glenn was brought back too early and blew out his knee.
Second, we didn't replace Glenn with a competent WR.
Third, TO gets injured and we get exposed for our lack of depth at WR, with Glenn done and Crayton still just not ready for primetime.

The failure in 2007 is on coaching and management. Screw up after screw up, and Almost Antonio was still throwing the game winning pass in the final seconds in 2007. Crayton's last screw up was just the final straw for the season.

Then the coup de gave next year with the Roy Williams abomination, which dumped TO, kept a 3rd or 4th WR on the field as a starter, and kept better WRs in Crayton and Austin off the field.

Glenn's knee doesn't go out, and it's a whole different timeline.

Anyone who understood the game knew exactly what happened on that play on 3rd down. Laufenberg pointed it out as it happened on the broadcast, he saw it from the booth. Crayton acknowledged it the morning after on Michael Irvin's espn 103.3 fm radio show. Irvin asked him to break down the play and he did, it was a 16 yard dig route (they had run that a million times to crayton) with built in adjustments like all routes....when the safety took off crayton was supposed to run the go but he hesitated and it was only one step and that was all it took. The ball was perfect. Would have been an all time play.

Glenn acted weird that whole offseason after parcells left and he just wasn't right. Then wanted a contract extension if I remember correctly.
The offense was fine in 07 with Owens and witten leading the way. Crayton and hurd were excellent role players and anthony fasano was too.

The injuries to Romo, Owens, Gurode, Canty the final 3 weeks were just bad luck and had some lingering effects though I think none contributed to the loss of the playoff game.

I agree on poor coaching, particularly special teams. They made a mistake in the preseason and should have learned there lesson and didn't, then did it again at ny then finally committed a penalty right before the half coupled with a jacques reeves penalty which allowed the giants a td when they were essentially going to run out the clock and regroup after getting manhandled in the first half.

Some strange things happened in that game, every little thing was called on Dallas and Antonio Pierce threw a punch into the stomach of Barber/gurode I cant remember right in front of two officials and they did nothing. It was just one of those days. The terrible call on ware on the opening drive which extended the giants from punting to first down in which Toomer scored on a bunch of missed tacklers didnt help either.

miles austin was never healthy enough to be relied on until 2009. they wanted desperately to make him the number 3 in 08 and he started the season off fast then got hurt. More bad luck.

i agree on glenn though. Had he played with the same attitude as 06 and been healthy in 07 who knows how much better they would have been. The difference in hurd outside vs glenn was significant. The offense was still great however.

I remember Laufenberg calling it, but never heard about Crayton talking about it on the radio the next day.

But for years, people would usually point out the wide open drop for Crayton much more than the final second pull up. That's been changing in recent years.

Youtube has helped spread Crayton's infamy.

Not weird in hindsight. Glenn must have known that he has done but wanted to squeeze out a little mo money.

At least Jerry didn't get punked by Glenn like he did with Purple Drank.

I like how the team has a solid identity and focus. Build through the offensive line. No wait build through the star RB. No wait build through the franchise QB. No wait build through 3 x 1000 yard receivers. Ahhhhhh who cares just buy the jerseys and enjoy the show and don't worry about defense or special teams.

No. Not according to any statistics compiled recently.
That’s because this is not the same league I remember. This is Candy has football. That’s why am at Prescott in top five. One of the very few that can survive the 70s.

I very much doubt the Cowboys will have three 1,000 yard receivers. It may be possible to average of 1,000 yards per receiver, but I doubt the distribution of targets, catches and yardage will be so even all three will end up with 1,000 yards. Even that may be tough given that there will still be a fair number of targets to Jarwin, Zeke and Pollard.

The kid never had a losing season. Even with the word special teams. Jason Garrett. A running back that’s been in turmoil. Lost his starting center wide receiver or tight end. People don’t have a clue how lucky we are to have him. He was the best quarterback in the draft class without a doubt

Teams won Super Bowls with it and still could if executed right.
A strong running game gives you the best chance to win.
Its like some of them missed last year altogether with the success of San Fran, Balt and Tenn.....

I'm somewhat unsure as to what it might take for us to win this year!

I'm kinda wishing that guys like Amari Cooper wouldn't talk so much.

Talking less and proving themselves on the field might be better! o_O

Sorry to hear you’re a fan of the punk. In addition to contributing huge chokes in the most critical points in that game, he spent the week before the game running his mouth to the media dogging the Giants. Then he backs it up with his epic choke. That year and game were the best chance we had to get to the Super Bowl during the whole Romo era. We had home field until the Super Bowl. And him just giving up on the potential game winning TD is inexcusable. And shows the loser heart in him. As you can see, I’m not bitter :)
