Schultz taking the challenge after week one and staying after to work on the juggs machine reveals a couple of things. He has both pride and an understanding in his role and is willing to do the work to fulfill his part of this offense. It also shows he either learned a few things from Witten, or has had this ability all the while, and it is now coming to the fore. He got to the open spots, got the ball out of the air with both hands. And except for one error, he was money. Not a Gronkowski type of player, but more than what we all seemed to think.

Now let's see you repeat it, kid. Show me means making this your game, and not just an aberration.

The offensive line was being man-handled until an injury for the Falcons. That may have been in conjunction with the up tempo the offense went to, to off set the fact the defensive line was autographing Dak's jersey on about every play. The idea of what happens if this line gets healthy and comes together may be more wishful thinking than reality. But given that Dak had a pocket to throw from at some point, and throw he did, you have to at least give a thought at Smith and Collins returning, and perhaps finding an answer for left guard, and what that will do for this team.

I see the comments about the Falcons being a poor team. That may be so. I don't always look at the record and assume it is the whole story. But Dak galvanized that offensive passing game. All the things we as fan have discussed over the time since the draft is not a pipe dream. Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb will be a real serious problem for other teams if the line can protect. Big if, but you can bet the coaching staff and management are scrambling to find someone to bring in, along with what combination will give Dak a pocket to deliver the ball.

Will this be soon enough to keep this season alive? I don't know. And after two games that sounds rather odd saying it. But Falcon's being a poor team or not, we saw a glimpse of what this passing game can be.

Zeke is a beast. As this season wears on you hear from players on other teams that he is the guy they least like to tackle. This is a man fellows and girls. He drags the defense with him. At the end of runs he finds some gear I have not seen from many backs and saddles up tacklers for an extra yard or two.

All the whining about money the last eighteen months is just that. He is the eye of the storm. And as he becomes more involved in the passing game, what he will bring to the table will make Dak's job easier. Also the idea he doesn't have a burst seems to come from some who look but don't see the game for what it is.

Yes, the defense looked horrible. But also consider Matty Ice is not a bad QB and with the 11 minutes of unfettered time he had on every passing play, he delivered the ball. And yet the Falcons had two gifts from the Cowboys that turned into 3 points each. Not seven. So someone was doing their job at some point which kept this team alive.

The Dallas Cowboys did not quit yesterday. Someone asked if Garrett would have won this game. My opinion is no. His team's would have knuckled under. This team showed grit.

Mac was pulling out every stop to win that game. Questionable decisions? Yes. And had Dallas lost, this place would be incendiary over his choices. But we had ten years of a guy that had no guts at all. Live or die by taking a chance, I seem to recall Jimmy Johnson being a riverboat gambler. Now before you toast me on that comment, all I'm saying is sometimes you have to take a chance to win it all.

This is the first two games of Mac's tenure. The tearful set have started to burn him in effigy, just like a number of players. Maybe it's time to take a deep breath and let this play out instead of quitting at the first sign of trouble.

Pollard is a nifty player. But he is not a starter. Yet. That ship hasn't come close to setting sail.

One last point. Dallas was falling apart at the seams in 1995. That year they were 8 and 1 in the first 9 games. Over the next five weeks, from Nov 12 to Dec 10 they went 2 and 3. They let the Eagles back into the East race by losing when they should have put that away by early December.

The point is this. It is a marathon, not a sprint. It seems the players and coaches understand this. The management understands this.

But it is evident the fans don't get that things can turn around quickly as teams seem to come together. This has been a crazy year. Injuries have threatened to take away all the positives when this team was assembled. But this year is no where near over. And even if they lose to the Seahawks, that does not put them out of the race for the East.

Big picture is the focus.

I made some of these points in the game time forums as well:

1) If we can give Garrett 10 years to showcase his process, then I am sure we can afford to give 1/4 of that time to MM.
2) I don't mind taking chances, but be smart about them. The first fake punt was a surprise call and the execution suffered. The second one in my opinion was a bad call with 5 or so yards. If you do want to take a chance at that point, take it with your offense and not your ST. Your offense is clicking, go with the hot hand there.
3) Coaching does make a difference, we made some adjustments yesterday. We would have definitely lost with Garrett on the sideline, because in the name of motivation all we would get is a mannequin standing on the sidelines with a dead stare clapping like he has a pair or energizer batteries up his behind.

The 1st one was great. He was wide open. Too bad ex-RBs can't always throw very well.

Jones has had trouble punting the last couple of seasons ; and now they're asking him to pass ? That's why it wasn't too bright.............

The Falcons are not a very good team. Their pass defense may be worse than the Cowboys pass defense. This is a game the Cowboys should have won if they were healthy.

Even dinged up they shouldn't be fumbling like that. Take away the turnovers and I think we would have beat them fairly easily.

Yo how you gonna read my comment about Schultz on the juggs machine and not even shout me out. You must be an undercover DFW sports writer. Worst of the worst.

It's Hennessy_King sir. Put some spect on my name.
Lol all g thx.

Do you know why Hennesey is brown?

Because like all liquor that is brown, they do not cook it until all the impurities are removed.

I no longer am much of a drinker, but I prefer my impurities this way.
