Dear fellow fanzone freaks---- i am as upset as anyone else at the situation we are in.....

now i am concerned cowboys O line we get owned by Washington D line...Does anyone

think Moore and coaches can help Dalton run quick pass plays and other scheme adjustments

so Dalton does not get killed?

sincerely

Probably not enough for Dalton to feel comfortable, maybe Dak but not Dalton. Hopefully we incorporate quick passes and the screen game comes to play. If we ask him to sit back for long developing downfield routes then we could be cooked.

Good question. The problem is the Cowboys suck at running screens. I don't know what it is but the other team always seems to sniff it out right away. Then, they are terrible blocking on those bubble screens. I wish they would toss that play into the garbage forever.

They also don't throw as many slants. Aikman to Irvin running a slant used to be the go to play when Aikman was getting a lot of pressure. But none of the Cowboys receivers, except maybe Noah Brown, are physical enough to run that effectively multiple times a game.

They need to try and establish some kind of running game then maybe play action will help slow down the pass rush.

But this game, like every game, will come down to defense. If the Cowboys defense makes the Washington offense look like the Giants offense did, then I do not see the Cowboys winning this game. And I don't see the defense getting any better so I am expecting Washington to put up 30+ points just like every other offense the Cowboys have faced the last 5 weeks. Washington's Antonio Gibson ran a 4.39 at the combine. He plays RB and they will use him to exploit the slow Cowboys LBs, just like the Cardinals did. The Cowboys DEs have been unable to set the edges all year and Gibson will simply outrun Jaylon Smith to the outside and turn upfield for 15 or 20 yards. If he breaks free up the middle like Drake did, he will score too.

Great question GORICO. I'll be watching just to see this. The Cowboys need to take the Rams approach that they had to avoid what they thought our Dline might do. Little did they know. If the Cowboys get into a lot of 3rd and long, it's over.

oh man Washington...has a potentially top D line in NFL if they can get it together...i am use to every team that plays the cowboys has their best game of the year almost...i think if Zeke and Pollard can eat we will have successful play action

Good post. Those screens really haven't worked at all and it does seem like the other teams know it's coming. Is it just bad blocking or are the Cowboys telegraphing the play in some way? I'll admit that I don't watch much NFL other than the Cowboys but it seems to be an effective play. Maybe it's just because I'm watching it run against our D.

Someone else responded in another post about football still being won in the trenches.

I still believe this as well.

The oline is woefully inadequate and has no calvary coming to rescue it on the horizon.
If Gregory does not have a major impact, then I fear the d-line will be known as the worst coached or one of the worst under performing units in Cowboys d line recent history. Or both.

Some teams just run them really well. The Packers are really good at those bubble screen, although I think they get away with blocking early. The Eagles run screens really well. Maybe it is just attention to detail.

Catch 17---- so are you down on cowboy coaching staff?

I was never a fan of the McCarthy hire but the players are terrible too..

The whole thing is 1 big mess.. We have bad contracts everywhere.. We also are going to lock ourselves into mediocrity with Dak.

I give the Cowboys no chance until at best 2022 and that’s if we are lucky.

We need to draft someone who is electric and a game changer. Right now we just have a bunch of dudes..

Trevor Lawrence is what we need but we will fight to be mediocre and most likely achieve that..

I think McCarthy is safe but it wouldn’t surprise me if Zimmer becomes available and Jerry fires McCarthy for Zimmer if he can’t talk him into taking a DC job here.

i would absolutely love a Zimmer hire for DC if possible...and the way Minnesota is playing he may be available?....but because they have been to playoffs a couple of times recently he probably has longer leash on him?

Good stuff man. I would think that figuring out what refs would let you get away with would be a big part of good coaching. I'm at a loss at what is going on right now. Seems to be a combination of bad players and bad coaching.

No. And, to be honest, it’s too much to expect with a makeshift line. But suspect line play won’t be the reason they give up 34 points.

Cowboys rarely do play action from under center. From shotgun it's almost useless. And yeah, Washington probably does have the best Dline right now. It's the rest of the team that sucks.
