Why would a team trade for Dak when they would have a free shot at him after the 2nd tag?

Dallas has NO LEVERAGE at moving Dak for anything right now. Either he would sign a long term deal, or he walks with Dallas gets nothing in return outside a comp pick.

A team like indy might see qb as the one thing keeping them from a superbowl run. If that's the case, you don't waste a year waiting for him to hit the open market

He got similar results to Dak over his career when the team around him was solid.

Similar in the sense that if you put all of his career best numbers together they are still when taken as a whole worse than Dak's worse season (2017). So basically Dalton if you cherry pick his best numbers for each year still has worse numbers than Dak.
