Let's face it -- the Cowboys FO is unpredictable. They may take a QB, LB, CB, DT, a Safety, or any number of other guys that they covet.

The only situation that they would consider taking a QB other than Dak would be if they find that he's again opposed to accepting a fair proposal.

It would go in line with the bad decisions he has made in regards to signing the wrong players and letting the wrong players walk.

It would really impress me if Jerry traded the dead weight that aren't living up to their paygrade. The hardest position in football to find is a franchise QB and we have one. Heck we already have Zeke's replacement on the roster and Im sure we can find a DE to replace DLaw. With top 10 pick we already have I can see a safety that wants to play 100% of the time being available.

LOL i love it "you don't expect us to go full speed all the time, thats just crazy"

IF, and that’s still a big IF, the Cowboys end up with the #1 or #2 pick in the draft, I’ll be very excited though I pull for victory every week.
  • That’s a top pick at the top of every round, picks in every round that can be used on a highly regarded player or traded for multiple picks.
  • The Cowboys can sign Dak to a long term contract and bring in a true CB or DT stud in round 1, even if trading down a bit, and usually find a stud S at the top of round 2.
  • The Cowboys can draft another rookie QB in round one and still draft defense in every other round, while having a QB under control for 4-5 years while building a defense, but eventually they still have to overpay a starting QB at some point, assuming that QB pans out to be a star in the NFL.
  • What I like best about all scenarios is having the first or second pick not only provides options, but most importantly, it will force the Cowboys to make a timely decision on Dak, no more dragging their feet. A decision to sign him or let him walk would have to be made before the draft next spring
Also, forget about trading Dak and getting draft picks. All they can do is tag him again, but he can force their hand by not signing, or waiting to sign at the last minute. Dak and every team knows they cannot tag him and pay him and a #1 or #2 QB from the draft. Dak can force their hand, and no team will trade top value when they know Dallas has to rescind the unsigned tag, making him a free agent.

Whether you want them to sign Dak, like me, or want them to let him walk and draft a QB, the Dak situation would be resolved by draft day. But make no mistake, or correct mine, Dallas cannot tag Dak and draft a QB at the top of round one. They cannot invest 50+ million in the position, and everyone involved knows it.

The Cowboys have allowed this situation to reach a point where they have no leverage and cannot really trade Dak for more picks.

I don't see the Cowboys starting over and taking a QB. I could see them taking advantage of the draft position and making a trade with a need QB team. The extra draft capital could kick start rebuilding their defense.

No, if Fields is on the board & they’re smart - they should be able to get at least 2 first rounders and a 2nd or 3rd for him. Usually bad teams that need a QB make those trades so it’ll behoove us to get as much as we can for an unproven QB. We have a proven QB & if you don’t realize that by now idk what to tell ya.
Proven but coming back from a pretty nasty injury. No guarantees w/ Dak or Fields at QB.

Fields looks like a stud to me. Why would you not grab him? I believe Dallas will draft in the 3-6 area.

The Dak Mafia failed.
5 Years of mediocrity at its finest.
It ends come the Spring.

P.S.If some of you think Jerry will pay Prescott 35 Million a year or Tag him you will be proven wrong once again.
This team failed to produce and it's as simple as that!

Selecting a QB with our high pick would be a blunder, so that is what will probably happen.

If you like Dak you should like Fields.

Fields is Dak with a little more upside.

I'm not a fan so far. I could change my mind but i'm not there yet.

I'm not calling him a bust. I just see a guy that has a ceiling of being a really solid QB.
I don’t think he’s so much like Dak in one key area
Like Dak or not he is a leader and fields doesn’t strike me that way
I have to admit when we took Dak I didn’t think he was anything special
As much as I hate to admit it now the QB I liked is the one you liked lol

Anyone who wants Fields might as well stick with Dak and use the pick to build. Only one I can see you would go for is Trevor, but with how the Jets are tanking, they will have first dibs. At this point you resign Dak, and use that high pick to either pick up another high 2nd round pick + maybe only drop down 5-7 spots so you can still pick up a game changer player and use the two 2nd round picks to help solidify other positions.

No he looks like Tarzan and has a huge nose. Very similar looking to Josh Rosen.

Of course the difference is, as always, with a draft pick there is less certainty than with a guy who has been in the NFL. Of course, that doesn't mean the draft pick will be a lesser player, or that he won't be a better one, it just means there is more risk attached. Well, on the talent end. Less near term risk financially.
