3 or 4 weeks off then basically pressed back into action by a fluke warmup injury.. Interior line didn't miss a beat. The Steelers really crowded the line on us but we were still able to do enough in the running game to keep them honest for the most part. I think he is an unrestricted FA at the end of this year .. we could do a lot dumber things than keeping him.

Cowboys offense had as much time to operate as its had all year. I didn’t expect that today.

Interior did miss a beat - Conner Williams was no match for Cameron Heyward.

And Hasn't Looney been a cheap UFA the last 2 years - with seemingly no other NFL takers ?
i'd re-sign him again as a cheap vet that could fill in at center in a pinch. Such as today.
But i don't want him starting. He doesn't get to the 2nd level as rookie Biadasz does .....

Heyward took Williams’ lunch money today, most of the day.

Yeah, Williams lost some critical battles that really hurt us. At this point, I'd like to give McGovern a shot to show if he can do better and get Williams some play at tackle. It's only a few plays a game for Williams where he gets beat badly, but they are plays we just can't afford.

It’s odd that as much as they seem to LOVE Williams they haven’t kicked him out to OT, which he seems more physically suited to play.

Steele might have had his best game today. Most of the damage to our offense was done by Cam Heyward over Connor Williams. Williams really took an L today. That said, I think all options will be on the table in the offseason. We have to have a better plan for when guys inevitably get hurt than we did this year.. though to be fair this year has been better than it had ever been under Garrett as far as handling injuries on the line. At least not it takes losing 4 or 5 guys for the whole thing to fall apart and not just one.

Need to draft replacements for Smith and williams

We may already have them if Knight comes back and looks decent and Steele can take a step forward with a full offseason program. That and the game experience the kids are getting will pay dividends down the road. Still I'd be okay with maybe taking a 3rd round tackle.. But Looney can replace Williams and I think do a better job at guard. No need to spend draft capital there IMHO.

Looney gets paid a little extra with us because there is a 1.25mil veteran cap forgiveness for a vet you've had around for enough years. Don't know the details. Gives us a little leg up on bidding for him. 2.4mil this year. He's been worth it.

But really, Looney has been a decent starter for us. Better than Biadasz. I'm surprised. I like our oline depth, and want to get them more play, but can't argue with the value he's delivered.

With everyone healthy, McGovern or Knight are the likely competition for Williams at LG.

Knight, Steele, and McGovern are good young depth on the oline. Should only improve. I don't see us spending a high pick unless some extreme value falls in our lap.

As usual with this board and the local media no one is giving Terrance Steele and Irving any credit. The two held up real good this game. I did not hear there names called all game except for a one penalty and Irving getting hit in the eye. Good game guys.
