The Cowboys winning the division and going 1 and done or the cowboys getting a top 5 pick and not taking a QB?

myself after this weekend am more encouraged and will not root for losses. If it happens so be it I'm on the get defense train and lots of it. Id love to see Jaylon replaced or relegated to back up

sorry i couldn't figure out how to make a poll

You play to win. There is no guarantee even with the first pick in the draft. There have been plenty of busts. This year should be an audition for all the players. Show us your effort and you are here to stay or you get the boot. That is the attitude if you want to take this team forward. This country club atmosphere has to end for us to ever be considered serious contenders.

Unless we get first pick I’d be upset if we took a QB

Going 1 and done.

They aren't drafting a QB. My hope is we snag the #2 pick and trade down for multiple picks cause they are signing DAK.
I think if you got first pick you take a QB
After that I wouldn’t touch a QB
Signing Dak allows you to build the defense even though at 3 I’m not convinced they would take a defensive play, after that I thinks a D players is a lock

You play the game for one reason, winning a SB. You can't do that with out making the Playoffs, so winning the division at this point is a must since no WC will come from the east, even with the expanded format. And you don't take a QB if you are really convinced that DP is the guy, which they seem to be.

All this other talk about draft slot, tanking etc is just nonsense. You can't stand in front of your team and tell them you are not going to try and win. That is just beyond stupid.

I will be mad if we make the playoffs because we are ruining draft stock doing so. Again, this is a lost season. I understand playing to win, however, we need to think of our FUTURE. No one in this crappy division is going to the SuperBowl. If we get a good draft pick, we can get someone to trade down for more picks, and build up our defense in the process, hopefully solidifying a solid team for the coming years.

So how to do you explain this to the 60 some odd players that have been working their butts off for you as the coach?

draft picks next year do not guarantee a trip to the playoffs. There is an easy path this year, so you root for them to get there, and take the shot

Every team in the nfc east will be getting good draft picks

Wherever they land they had better trade down. Though I'm not convinced stephen knows how to make a good deal and turn it into multiple quality picks.

Really can't answer as both are so far off. I rather make the playoffs, and get another game, as anything can happen.
Because we have no idea right now as to where we end up in the draft.
I seriously doubt we get a top 5 pick anyway.

However if somehow they are in the position to select a QB there is no guarantee they will. And a trade down will be more likely to get more draft picks, and high round picks.

But to answer the question, probably more so not taking the QB. You just can't pass up those opportunities when your QB is injured and a FA and would cost huge cap space. And there are a lot of unknowns. But I can see why they would not go QB as well.

no question …… top 5 overall pick.
much richer, longer investment with a pick as high at the top such as this. and it's not like we have Dak., we're gonna limp into playoffs with Dalton and this defense to go one and done ?

I tell them to play like they did against Pitt, aka, good enough to keep it close, but not well enough to win. It’s auditioning time. If you wanna be on the team next year and get paid, play hard and show me you want to. If not, you’re either going to be cut, traded, waived, or let go into FA.

One and done in the playoffs would frustrate me, playoff losses always do. Drafting the wrong player "Bust" would frustrate me, missing in the draft always does.

I guess you could say I am easily frustrated

It depends on who’s on the board
Sewell I take and start getting ready for second round
All pro type talent you don’t pass up
After him I think trading a couple spots is fine but I’m not trading out of top 10
We need elite players
We have plenty of picks

Listening to the Dak-a-roos about how Jerry signed Dak for $37.5 million for 4 years and he's just reaggravated the ankle for the third year in a row thereby destroying our chances of a making the post season. Meanwhile moaning that Lawrence and Fields are tearing the league.

you can do both, trading from 2-3 down to 5-10 no later then 12

im betting player like Trask might be worth a look around there and the trade netted another 1st and 2nd and still get all the defenders you had in mind.. ive looked through a lot of mocks and there arent any LOCK defenders in the top 10 , sure they have upside but no BOsa, watt, Ramsey, or Donald types so why not have your cake and eat it too, take risk at QB with the extra pick but hes not preserved to play year 1 still FT dak and see how that goes, maybe you end up trading Dak but Trask is climbing the draft boards and you never know ..

I want to win every week. That is the fan in me. At the same time, anything less than a Super Bowl is a failure considering where we are financially, and at a talent level. Well, we aren't winning a Super Bowl this season. And with limited money and no desire for quality FA's in the offseason, we must rely almost exclusively on the draft to fix what ails us. That said, who here has any confidence in our FO to nail the draft?
