First of all never said I was a Dak hater. I like him but I think Lawren hece is better. Second of all a team can get a total of 4 comp picks not 0-3. If we get the 4 we are projected to get in the rounds we are projected to get that would be 1, 2, two 3’s, two 4’s, 5, two 6’s, and two 7’s. That is a total of 11 picks. I bet you wouldn’t even have done the Walker trade because we would be giving away our one true offensive weapon at the time and will be drafting unknowns. Thank God you are not close to the Cowboys because we would probably not win any Super Bowls with your thinking.

I'll take a healthy Dak over a rookie QB who could be a bust.

I like Jimmy’s idea of resigning Dak and drafting a QB.

Teams don’t often get an opportunity to get a high draft pick along with such a deeply rich QB draft. Nothing wrong with securing the most important position now and for years to come.

Dwayne Haskins, Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell, Akili Smith, Heath Shuler, Carson Wentz, Tim Tebow, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameius Winston, Paxton Lynch, Jarod Goff, Marcus Mariota, Johnny Manziel, EJ Manuel, Robert Griffey, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weedon, Cam Newton and on and on and on and on......

All these clowns that want us to cut Dak and draft a rookie QB wouldnt know a QB if he was on their own team, got rookie of the year, and was breaking team and NFL records with his passing abilities.

Wait..............................?

How many QBs picked in the top 10 over the last 10 years not named Mahomes impresses anyone today? Might as well not waste the first round pick and pick one in the second and cross your fingers.
You have better odds of finding a franchise QB in the first round. The majority of Super Bowl QBs win or lose have been first round picks

I named a bunch of 1st round QB failures so yes, I made my point. The fact you can’t even acknowledge it is telling about your cognitive ability and or agenda.

Now name all of the fifth round quarterbacks who have failed.

I feel for Jet fans. That article is like salt in the wound to a Jets’ fan.

I would be sick to my stomach if the Cowboys had Lawrence gift wrapped and won a meaningless game like the Jets last week and blew it all.

Personally, I'm for tanking once you lose your starting quarterback for the season.

Man, Whitt isn't very good at tanking. We want Dallas to lose today, and for Washington to lose to the Panthers. We would gain at least 2 spots.

Well, the article does say to try and win...

It's such a stupid premise to pretend losing worked out once in the long run, so it always works and even dumber to try to apply it to this year. Do we get a shot at Lawrence if we lose the next two games?
Next write one that says Emmitt was picked at #17 so we should try to be 7-9 and pick 17th or that Jamarcus Russell was picked first so you should avoid that pick.

I read the article and I definitely disagree that the Cowboys tried to lose that last game in ‘88. It certainly benefitted them as Schramm indicated post game. But notice that he also said, “Well at least the day wasn’t a total loss” when he saw that the pack had lost.

The other thing we must always keep in mind. Having a top 3 pick- even the #1 pick in this draft guarantees absolutely nothing. There’s no guarantee that Trevor Lawrence is the next Troy Aikman. Or Justin Fields. The last 20 years are littered with names of QBs or other position players who were “can’t miss” players that were exactly that. Misses.

Intentionally losing is stupid IMO. Would I cry if we got a top 5 pick? Of course not. But habitual losing is already a problem this team has had for nearly two seasons. After that 3-0 start last year, this team has been 10-17. And they were trying to win all 27 of those games. This team is not very good as currently constituted. Just like that ‘88 team, they don’t have to make any effort to lose. They have proven very capable of that even when going all out. Winning games is not a switch you turn on or off.

exactly this entire premise about tanking is off and JJ/JJ was not the coach the year before the DC did Not tank to get Aikman and like many teams you lose because you are bad and thats that..most players and coaches do not lose on purpose..

sorry its term coined by Media and fans and even if its happened here and there with a GM or owner who sabotage the coaches by taking away all the best players, its not what 99% of teams do, they prepare and go out and want to win EVERY SINGLE GSAME.

Jets, Miami, cinci and recently won games they needed to lose to get Lawerence. They are not thinking of that while playing..why would they , winning is and has always been the goal..

We just have a different opinion. I like Dak and would not mind if we kept him but at the right price. Also we don't know if Dak will come back as healthy as he was before. By all accounts his rehab is going well but you never know. There is still a long way to go. We are not going to get Lawrence any way. I just want the FO and Dak to come to a fair contract for both sides.

But three of the quarterbacks listed were the No. 1 overall pick (Cam Newton, Jameis Winston and Jamarcus Russell). You said only one was the No. 1 pick.
That's why I didn't follow your comment.
You are right

Yup, getting Troy was the result of a tanked season. And Troy did some tanking of his own to get us a few more prime draft picks. That was back in the day when the Cowboys appreciated the value of a few tanked games. It's a shame the art of the tank has been lost on these idiot fans of today.

None of those should’ve been picked in the 1st round. Get it?
Most were picked because they were picked for need not talent
To me fields isn’t a top QB prospect either
I do think Lawrence is a top prospect but even he is not the best player in the draft
Teams, scouts and the media over rate QB every year
Which makes a good case for keeping Dak
He’s not a young Brady or mahommes but he’s proven to be a top 15 at worse and really a top 10
Drafting a QB after Lawrence in the first round is a huge gamble

I know that. I was just commenting on the reply that was given to me from another poster. I think whoever gets the 1st pick is not giving it up.
A team at the first spot who needs a QB and only one QB to me worth a top 10 picks, I think you are right
I don’t think 2 firsts from a top 10 team would get him

Well, that's when most are picked. But in the last 10 super bowls 11 out of the 20 QBs that played were picked in the first round.

I made my point which I obviously need to spell out for you because you’re too dense to grasp it. Drafting QB in the first round is no guarantee for success. There are just as many failures as successes. Get it yet?
So you're saying we should just get rid of our 1st round picks.

So, question: Why are you touting the worthlessness of draft picks due to some not working out?
