I can see arguments either way, but the injuries are a major concern. He is one hit to the neck away from retirement.

I can live with the 5th year option because it's only 1 year. But a 2nd contract? I don't think so. Too risky IMO.

I think we have to, unless they land a stud in the draft. We dont exactly have a ton of depth at the position. LVE has underperformed, but still has tons of upside to his game, and is relatively young. Plus its a one year deal, that doesn't destroy the cap.

I'm lending yes coz as mentioned, it's only 1 year. It buys time to better evaluate his value and durability. For example, as of now, I'm not sure he's even worthy of the franchise tag but that could change after 2021. Bottom line, I'm not letting my 1st pick walk until I've turned over every possible leaf.

I don't know if his surgery was a long term fix or just a specific injury repair. He's still more on the "potential" rather than "proven" player side, but I would try to work out a longer term deal on him.

Combine average play with an injury history, and I say let LVE go.
