Players being upset and wanting to be traded is nothing new.

What makes this one interesting is that it's a franchise QB, in a new deal and we know the reason(s) for why he's upset.

Teams can cut contracts or trade players at any time and no one bats an eye. But when a player wants out of a team, he's a bad guy or entitled.
Watson had to deal with BoB for years, trading away talent, unable to build a team around him. He talks to the owner who promises him something then backs out of it. While a player doesn't have anything in his contract to make demands about a GM, it's also sort of bad business for the owner to say something to his star player and then throw it away.

Watson really hasn't gone public about wanting to be moved or gone on twitter rants. Right now it' mainly, "sources tell me" type of articles.

Yeah Smith needs to retire. The Football Team’s defense was so good that they finished 7-9 without a quarterback. I do think teams will study them on film and punish their secondary. If Martin and Collins return healthy we can take advantage.

This is such a QB driven league now that you would need an elite defense to make up for a mediocre quarterback. A front four alone has never won championships. But they gave teams fits. That's why I said if their defensive backfield can improve, they can be very dangerous. Crap quarterbacks have won super bowls on defense alone.

Not worried about a 4-12 QB who needs a ton of help because he can’t carry a team.

The Texans are a dumpster fire. The CEO sounds like a moron who inherited the team from his daddy. The guy essentially running things has no football background. Look at all the reports of no one wanting to be their head coach.

No one wants to work for a ****** company with terrible bosses and a terrible future. Can't blame Watson one bit. Even 90% of Texan fans are on his side.

Remember when Eli said he wouldn't play for the San Diego Chargers?

Remember when Elway said he wouldn't play for the Indianapolis Colts?

Those guys hadn't played a snap in the league yet and pulled those power moves.

Owners own, players are employees. This guy makes $40m a year and says he’s not answering any phones from his bosses. Tell that to the people happy as all get out to land a freaking $600 stimulus check. Rather have Dak btw...

What Randy Moss doesn't understand is that the "voice" these players think they are entitled to is the exact reason why fans are turned off.
The thing is they are entitled. Their salary dictates the entitlement. I have said it before guys like Jaylon and Zeke were playing for the contract. Once they got the contract that was it. Mission accomplished. And how can you blame them. They achieved everything they set out to do and now they are supposed to care what a bunch of scrubs who make peanuts compared to them think. Of course they don't.

If true, I think the Texans were really foolish to tell Watson he would be involved with selection process for a new GM and then not consult with him prior to the new hire. Watson is a team leader and should be treated with respect, not dismissed like some practice squad player.

The Texans are dumpster fire. Bill O'Brien cultivated a culture of toxicity. I don't blame Watson for wanted to get out and play for a functional organization.

I don't know, I listen to some of these situations play out and I just don't get it. I know they are not an organization that is ran well but where does any player regardless of how great or good they might be get to pull this off.
I heard Randy Moss the other day and quote " The days of just shut up and play are over" what the hell does that mean?
You are an employee of a business, you have a union, you have a job to do, you have been there X amount of years and just signed a monster contract.
Becaus you have a union certain rules were put in place one of them being after a certain amount of years your a FA free to sign with whatever team you want for whatever dollar amount you want.
I don't know much about Watson except he is a talented guy but I don't care who it is, these guys need to play out contracts and not have the power to hold a team hostage.
Just mark my words, he forces a trade it will change the thoughts of players every time they are not happy. Since when in any business does an employee get to have a say in who is hired or interviewed. Even if they told him that , it shows that they are incompetent and not trust worthy but you neeed to soldier on and play your new contract.
The kids coming in today are very entitled this isn't the way the world works.
Personally I would not trade him, not pay him and just let him sit. I believe their is a clause in the new CBA where players do not get paid when they sit out while on a contract.
I know it would hurt the team but sometimes a little balls goes a long way in sending a message.
He also has other teammates and a city and fan base that he is playing for and that are depending on him.
Feel bad that he is in that situation but after just signing that contract he had the right to wait the contract out. Now that you not only signed it but you have a no trade clause in it. Man up, honor it and yeah Randy "just shut up and play".
Many great players had careers wasted by being in **** organizations, there are only a few solid ones. God only knows we don't have to look far. So on this topic go ahead and fire back, Im not one to start controversial posts but Im hanging on by a thread with this league and the more I see the more turned off I am in watching and supporting these players.
These players know they have leverage now. The model of a player use to be just shut up and dribble. Play your contract out. Don't speak on anything not sports related just wake up and play sports and go home.

These younger guys are different. They are no longer the sheep that these billionaires have profited over. You can no longer be a incompetent owner and just sit back and not have people upset.

You keep trying to correlate the NFL to the real world but that's not the case. But let's do it for arguments sake. In the real world when a company is being ran poorly what happens?

The players are what make the NFL...people don't tune in to watch Jerry Jones they tune in to watch his product.

Yeah in the NBA sure you can use that argument but in the NFL? Those guys can get cut based on poor play. Those guys are playing like this because this is what they are not because they turned it up for a year lol.

A player has the option to play or not play and not get paid. The player should not have no input on who the next General Manager is.

Honestly for me the nail in the coffin would've been getting rid of Hopkins and making my job harder....and he still had statistically his best year. I've never seen a team ran this poorly. Granted, I know we are Cowboys fans but I don't think Jerry would've ever did that to Dak and he surely would've never did it to Troy or Romo.

This is not new. Lawrence Taylor threatened to go to the USfl and the worlds dumbest person owned the nj team and Taylor forced the giants to pay him way more.

also the worlds dumbest person then proceeded to bankrupt the usfl and the players didn’t get their salaries and the league folded.

So again this is not new and fans like yourself being so upset players have power is more about your failed world view.

What Randy Moss doesn't understand is that the "voice" these players think they are entitled to is the exact reason why fans are turned off. These millenials are forgetting that other millenials don't really care about football and it's the other generations that are the reason for their large paychecks. The end of the NFL is coming.

Man you're full of it. Are you trying to say that players never pulled moves like this in the past? You guys keep hoping and praying for the downfall of the NFL because you guys feel like the "inmates are running the asylum"....If this is the end of the NFL then its going to be end of all sports because this is isn't changing. Funny though you are on a football site discussing this exact topic...you don't seem to be turned off and neither does the millions of people or billions of dollars the NFL keeps producing.........

Yea, man, that was a total head scratcher. Hopkins is an incredible talent and Watson must of taken that like an unexpected gut punch from Iron Mike.

Jerry is the exact opposite from Houston Ownership. He is his players biggest fan. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either.

Watson to Washington would be serious trouble for the Cowboys.
Only for a few years. Mobile QB's don't really last that long. Of course, that means our D needs some major improvement which I don't see happening for a while

Which proves my point. The scrubs who are the reason they have these paychecks are going to stop supporting the NFL. What happens when fans stop buying merch and going to games?
