I would love to see an intelligent, objective analysis on the QB carousel. What teams are looking for QB's? What QB's are available?

I'm not in tune with the league enough to do a good job. My random guesses:

QB's available:
Draft - Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance, Jones, Trask
Trade - Watson, Stafford, Darnold?, Minshew?, Wentz? Garropolo?
FA - Trubisky, Dalton, Dak?

Teams looking:
Detroit, Houston, NE, NYJ, Jax, SF, Ind

IMO, the QB carousel is starting to get full of QB's. There is a lot of talent coming into the league. A lot of Justin Herberts and that trend has radically changed the equation at QB.

I think we bring in some veterans inside and also draft at the position. There usually is a steep learning curve at the position learning all the techniques as they cannot just win with athleticism on the next level. I would temper our expectations with 1st yr players at the position.

As for Dak, I bet they are waiting on what the cap # will be next season before restarting the extension talks
.

I wonder with everything that's happened and going on if they don't get his extension wrapped up ASAP.

49ers should jump all over this opportunity.
Great defense. Plenty of offensive weapons.

Colts are probably willing to overpay.

People are saying NE but there's not much talent
on the offensive side. I'd say no thanks.

Stafford is only 32. He could play another 8-10 years.
I agree, I wouldn’t go to NE with the lack of talent they have on offense

Many speculate that it was his agent who was shopping around his clients to various agencies. All his high profiled clients played on the tag last year. I think he gets franchised again, but they strike a deal the hour prior to the deadline.

Good for Stafford. This should have happened years ago. Honestly, the franchise tag should work a little more in favor of the player. If a team is truly bad for the duration of a player’s contract the franchise tag should not apply.

Not surprised, Stafford is a good QB but isn’t a winner. After 12 years the Lions figured it’s time to move on to someone else. Stafford had a losing QB record and is the king of garbage yards. Just another castoff that will be mentioned here as a replacement for Dak.

Its all about money. I have read that Stafford's cap hit for the next two years for a team trading for him will be a little over $20m. Rumors have Dak around $40m.

I'm not sure that there are any cowboy fans that would turn down Dak at $20m per year.

Trading 10 for Stafford is nuts though.

To much for Stafford. Now for a second round pick you would have my attention.

He can’t possibly be serious or he’s completely lost it. Lol No one is going to trade for Stafford he’s going to be released.

Detroit could now end up being a landing spot for Andy Dalton. Campbell and Lynn are from the parcells school of football, build a good defense play special teams and you can win with a bus driver.

Dalton would not cost them a draft pick or a ton of money meaning they could have him for a year or two while they build the roster and draft a younger guy to learn from Dalton.

I wonder if a third round pick would be enough for a team to acquire him? NE sounds like a perfect landing spot.

Trading for him would guarantee acquiring him but he’s going to be released. I wouldn’t be trading a third round pick for a QB who has a 70-90-1 QB record. He only led the Lions to the playoffs three times in 12 seasons with an 0-3 playoff record. Plus he’s had injury issues. He’ll get plenty of suitors once he’s released because he’s been very productive but he’s nothing more than a stopgap. I don’t see him benefiting a bad team much.
