If we dont upgrade the defense with the saved money we still wont win anything so what does the qb matter? Not to mention its no guarantee the first round qb will be good. Stafford's body is breaking down like Romo at the end

It makes NO SENSE to trade for Matt Stafford. Reasons:

1. He's not joining another team to be a backup.
2. He's on the downside of his career so he's looking to a team that is a quarterback away from winning it all. That aint us.
3. We still have the Dak and Andy situations on our hands.
4. If we REALLY are looking for a quarterback, a younger version would be better.
5. We're in striking distance at No. 10 to get a quarterback (Matt Jones)?

In sum: Stafford is not coming here.

You know where would be the perfect spot for him (though it's not going to happen): BALTIMORE! They have EVERYTHING but the quarterback. Yeah, I said it. Indianapolis seems like the PERFECT fit also.

Other places that aren't happening ... Miami and New England, though I think NE is farther away than most think.

With my plan, you only need Stafford for a couple of years while the 1st round QB learns. You have 2 potential elite QBs on the team and are still paying less than what Dak wants (and have 1 and possibly 2 better QBs than Dak).

Doesn't Dak have one of the winningest records among QBs over the course of his career?! Didn't he have one of the greatest seasons for a rookie QB of all time?

No. Nor do I think they'd do the same for Stafford. But in 4 years, they might be willing to trade Lawrence for Dak, but not for Stafford. (Obviously this is all hypothetical, and would depend on whether or not Lawrence turns out to be the generational talent some think he is...and of course, also depends on Jacksonville selecting him.)
