Of his inability to get to more Super Bowls with Rodgers. They got a brand new coach and supposedly it's all better now for Rodgers and look at what happened? The same exact thing. Rodgers choking in NFC title games.

I am not saying McCarthy is some great coach but stop with the narrative that he is bad because of how little success he had with Rodgers.

Rodgers is a regular season front runner. When defenses are looser and offense is much easier to come by. This guy folds over and over in big games. And McCarthy was blamed for it all. New coach comes in and same thing.

Green Bay is better last year and this year because they got a new GM who splurged on a defensive free agent spending spree and rebuilt that whole side of the ball.

GB’s drafting had been crap for years prior to McCarthy being fired and Thompson simply would not spend in free agency. When they changed coaches they also changed GM’s. The GM bringing in defensive help was the biggest difference.

They are a better team because they are way better defensively.
I've said this repeatedly and no one listens. Nobody cares.
It's the coach!
Or...
It's the QB!

Never mind Rodgers and Brees got only one 'Chip in their careers.

Never mind Payton has exactly the same amount of Trophies as McCarthy.

Never mind that it's an entire team that wins 'chips, no one player, or coach.

Never mind.

Yep, everyone talked about how much better the Packers are without McCarthy. Well unless LaFleur wins 2 super bowls with the Packers there's little proof to support that argument.

Fans assume because Rodgers is a future hall of famer he should have won many Super Bowls. It's hard to make it to the Super Bowl and win it multiple times in your career. Tom Brady is a ridiculous exception to pretty much every rule. The average hall of fame QB has won 2, but there are plenty of guys that have 1 or none.

Good post. Many think Marino is the best “pure passer” to ever play yet he’d played in only one Super Bowl and lost. I personally think Elway is the most overall talented to play the QB position, but he never won a title until he had a running game and a decent defense, It’s hard for a QB to win it all by himself, regardless how good they are. That’s the bottom line.

McCarthy was not THE problem for all of Green Bay's shortcomings. Poor drafting and inability to restock their defensive talent is the number one culprit. It's debatable whether he is still a great coach in 2021 but I also don't think he's terrible. Some make it seem like he was completely incompetent in 15 years with the Packers while Rodgers was doing all the work.

agree but it’s also almost impossible to win without great QB play.
