Does Dak Being the Best QB in the Division Factor Into Your Decision to Sign Him?

I'm a Dak fan....but being the best QB in this division is damn near by default.

But I will say...that has to be a nice advantage that every time you play rival you know you have the QB matchup.

Not saying much, and Jalen Hurts might prove to be better

That's what happens when you unfortunately have the best QB in the division but the worst coaches, defense and special teams in the division. Sucks.

lol...everyone sucks except Dak. Dak can never make mistakes, he is the best QB to walk a football field. (if he can still walk). You Daksters are to much. How about the cheerleader, do they suck also...hopefully.

Know what this makes me think about doing? I'd let Prescott walk, re up Dalton and spend that money on the D along with taking a QB in this draft. This is a good time not to be spending 40M on a QB on a team that is 14-18 the last two seasons.
The new era model is build the team with the void at QB.
Once built, pull the trigger on a ringer and grab a SB.
TB did it, and the Rams are next up it seems.

So you believe we have had good defenses, special teams and good coaching? Where's the lie?

Not at all. The fact that he is a top 5 QB in the NFL does.
Dak is only top 5 in your brain and yesterdays news.
Man sustained a horrible injury that might be career ending, yet you and many here are still all infatuated with making sure Dak gets payed.
I want to actually see a chance of entertaining the right to compete for some post season success.
Paying an average QB with now enormous question mark, health concerns, is risky business, I just hope Jerry and son actually stick with the Dak program that they have been surprisingly doing to this point.
There is a reason why Dak doesnt have a contract, its deeper than most Dak supporters want to even begin to consider.

Not all teams have that, however, even some teams that have a legit QB can do better than 8-8 without having a stat comp that achieves nothing.

Being the best QB in the division is kinda like being the turd that stinks the least and it should have absolutely no influence on a contract.

At this point in time, it is pretty clear Dak Prescott is far and away the best QB in the division. When you have the QB1 in a division, you have a significant advantage as long as the rest of your team/coaching is competent.

Based on the recent history of all these other NFC East teams at QB, there shouldn’t be overwhelming confidence that a player better than Dak leads any of these other franchises. Daniel Jones is meh, Hurts/6th overall pick is meh, and Rivera is too conservative to pull the trigger on a big deal so it’s FA or 19th overall; meh.

Assuming Dak’s health checks out, does being the best QB in the division make you more comfortable with a 40M price tag?

I've said this in another thread. Dallas has had the best QB in the division since 2006. Three times our division opponents won super bowls regardless of that fact. Dallas needs to build a team that can win a SB. The quarterback is a big piece in that equation, but not the only piece. If you're going to pay Dak over 20% of the cap we're probably not winning a championship. The fact he's better than the rest of our divisional opponents QBs is irrelevant towards that goal.

Absolutely not. Don't care if he was the best quarterback in football either

Team is not currently set up for deep playoff runs and will take several years to rebuild the defense then we have to worry about the aging OL. Taking on a massive quarterback contract is ridiculous at this point no matter who it is and will only hamper the team moving forward.

This current coaching staff is not up to par imo anyways. The only way the Cowboys change is if we bring in a coach that is not afraid to get rid of this cancerous entertainment culture we have in Dallas. However Jerry will never let this happen while he is alive

I respect that. List qb’s better than dak.

Ok tell me what teams with a legit QB have poor coaching, special teams and defense and did better than 8-8? I'll wait.

You sign him to prevent him from going to the Commanders. They're gonna chomp every team in the division's blocks with their defensive line soon. If they draft or sign some receivers and for some reason Dak goes there like some Skins fans are demanding.... it's gonna get ugly for everyone else in the next 2/3 years. Don't see Giants improving next year, and Philly is about to be the doormat. Cowboys.... will be decent I guess.

Does having the "best QB" guarantee anything? Now when we talking about wins and losses ppl say that's not a QB stat... can't have it both ways. I don't care who the QB is if the rest of the team is subpar.

No, Jerry and company should do what's best for the team as they see fit, and so far Dak doesn't have their full confidence so who knows.

Lastly, WAS has a stellar DL, and Dak's ankle better be right or The Football Team are gonna sweep again.

Doesn't matter. At the end of the day you play the division 6 times. 6 Easy wins is nothing to sneeze at.

True. Look at the competitive advantage the Pats got playing in a terrible division for the better part of a decade. Sure they still had to finish the schedule and go through the playoffs, but 6 easy wins is huge for momentum.
