Has anyone had this done after they became an adult? Do you still have pain and/or discomfort months/years after removing them? I read that something goes wrong 1 out of every 5 adult procedures.

I think mine need to be removed.

I had mine removed at 23. It's definitely more painful as an adult, and tougher the older you are, but don't let that stop you if it's a medical need. Just make sure they send you home with top-notch painkillers, and DON'T return to work before you're ready. Recover first. Use the good pain killers when you need them and take it easy for whatever days you need.

How long did your pain and discomfort last after surgery? Do you still get any problems with that area now?

I've read some medical info and reviews. The medical stuff i've read says it takes about two weeks to recover, but the patient reviews are claiming it's more like 4 to 6 weeks to get back to normal, and some people claim they still have some issues with their throat and even earaches or headaches months down the road.

I still have all the original body parts but a right hip and got Hector to replace that arthritic loser. Only drawback is I can't watch Terminator movies without Hector wanted to go hug the TV.

Adults having their tonsils and adenoids removed is a little more of an issue but it greatly depends on the shape you are in going in. Unhealthy people have bad reactions to anything. It also helps to get your mind right and in a positive flow. I do believe in the power of mind over matter.

You, evidently, do not feel good now so focusing on how much better you will be helps expedite the healing process. Go in with a goal and you can minimize the recovery time.

Sarek. I also have found other people tend to be a little over dramatic on their healing and recovery, just like I used to be with my wife. "But this is the worst cold any human being has ever endured. This is a will making cold". "Too late, I already made it out and forged your name, now take your Nyquil and shut up".

It was a long time ago, and also in another country (Germany). I was 23 then and am 56 now. I remember taking about a full week to get better, but it's been a long time so it could have been longer. I was also a lot younger then. I would say if you can, get a good 4 weeks off work to recover with the option of calling for more time if you need it. If that's not possible, see if your work has a medical leave of absence, and then apply for 6 weeks. If you're feeling better before then, you could always call up and say you're better and can return. But I would get that 6 weeks leave available to you if possible, especially if you're older. I was a 23 year-old student when I had it done, and I think it was during break from school if I remember right, so there was no issue of returning to a job. I just needed to be better before the Spring semester.

But, yeah, get that time off if at all possible, and get the good pain meds. Line up some shows to binge watch and take it easy.

your tonsils are supposed to be there. They are supposed to be part of your body.

I would experiment, and try to figure it out first.

Keep a journal of everything you eat, and see if there is a correlation on the days you have problems.
exercise
eat only Biblical clean foods (no pork, shellfish, lobster, shrimp etc)
eliminate all processed meat and food.
drink only water

try everything you can

To hell with that, give up the tonsils. I gotta do all that, I am throwing my testicles in as a package deal.

Horrible advice unless you’re a doctor.

Horrible advice unless you’re a doctor.

what about it is horrible?

The doctors have a script they follow. You tell them the symptoms, they either have pills they can prescribe, or they remove them. They are not going to try to figure out the cause of it or experiment

It is not life threatning. He has pain or discomfort. So, why not try everything before removing them.

His body is rejecting something he is doing. The majority of people have working tonsils, so the tonsils themselves are not the problem.

If it was me, i would spend half a year or year, being as healthy as i could, before cutting part of my body off

Dude, you told him to put it off. He could be in serious danger. You’re not a doctor so don’t fricken act like one.

if he is in "danger" why is he coming to the cowboys forum?

he said something goes wrong in 1 out of every 5 adult procedures

I think keeping track of what you eat or do, and then comparing the days you have problems with your tonsils, and trying to figure it out is good advice.

To each their own. I don't think you have to be a doctor to come up with that.

maybe tonsils problems dont having anything to do with something that goes in your body. I dont know. Maybe he got hit in the tonsils or it is genetics. I was just throwing out something to try

So what you’re actually doing is diagnosing someone on a message board with your “why is he coming to the cowboys forum if he’s in danger”. :lmao2:

Spray some vinegar on them, it'll be okay.

P.S. I'm an idiot and the side effects for listening to an idiot may be great or grossly irreparable. Discretion is advised.

i will say one more thing. For about 7 years i had dentists telling me i needed to cut out my wisdom teeth. Three of those years, it was because i had a small piece of gum covering part of them. I asked one "why not just cut the small piece of gum out instead of the teeth," and he looked at me dumbfounded and didint say anthing else.

Here i sit with all my teeth, fully grown in, no discomfort, and no problems. Don't always trust someone who wants to cut something out of your body. Maybe they get a kickback from the surgeon

He has to make his own decision though.
