Saw a rumor where the Pats were floating Stephon Gilmore as bait to get into the top ten. Woodja take 15 and Gilmore and take the best remaining defensive player such as JOK or Barmore to name a couple? That would really elevate the defense, for sure

I speculated that Jerry actually brought this up during the presser today

If true, Stephen told Jerry no anyways

they are trying to get their franchise QB
they will have to overpay

Then they will find another team to make a deal with. I am sure the Giants would entertain moving down. We aren't taking a QB so if there is one at 10, then the Pats know they just have to get to 11 to get the QB.

You mention the Bears but is the Bears 20th pick, 52nd pick and maybe a 3rd this year or 2nd next year a better haul? Depends on who the Cowboys would be targeting in a trade down.

perhaps but the lower they go the more likely someone lower like Chicago or WFT who is more QB desperate is able to get in and suddenly the price goes up because of 2 trans bidding

I would not be opposed. We've seen from other corners taken early in the draft, including our own Morris Claiborne, that they can bust. Plus, shoring up the starting corner spot doesn't mean we can't still take a corner to groom as the starter in the first three rounds.

I can't see Dallas doing it, though, because he would cost $7 million.

Lets play this out:
  • The difference between pick 10 and pick 15 is 250 points (equivalent of pick 68)
  • Gilmore if he walked after the season would net about pick 100 (100 points)
  • Gilmore is on 7m a season and is probably worth 18m if healthy
That's a steal, we'd be paying 150 points for 11m of value and that's before considering we'd benefit hugely from his leadership, and Superbowl experience. If we could restructure his contract on a 3-year deal we'd be a really good position. Pick 15 keeps us in a range to take maybe the 3rd best defender in the draft and if we also add Gilmore that's two big additions to the defense with still a 2nd, and 2 x 3rd that have a reasonable chance to contribute.

I'm against trading out of 10, but you make an outstanding case for this trade. Good work, Amigo.

If you’re coming up for a QB you better give me much more than a 1 year rental on a CB (that’s in his twilight years, no less)
