Completely agree and am hoping the team sees it the same way.

I'm not gonna go breaking tvs over it, but I'm somehow hoping we avoid the CB at 10 thing.

They don't let them play....the rules that is.

If the corner (Surtain for me) is there, I think the value is warranted at 10, if Pitts or Sewell is gone.

The Cowboys have not even interviewed Sewell or Slater. It is either Surtain or Horne. All insiders are saying they want the corners. I even think they might trade up to 7 if they get wind that both will be gone at 9.

Did they interview Lamb last year?

It’s one thing to factor in opt-outs (I disagree with putting too much stick in it), but I think it would be dumb to pass on a talent like that because of that.
What I like about Sewell was he was considered a top 2-3 pick before the opt out season.

Where was Slater when this was happening?

Did he just become good? Not like he was hidden at some D2 program.

I could live with Surtain at 10. But for gods sake, don't trade up for a corner. That would be awful.

Slater is Zack Martin part two. A great O-lineman with less than ideal measurables. And like Martin, he could end up at guard. Or he can be Joe Thomas.

I think Philly could panic a bit and think we want Surtain, trade up to the 8th or 9th spot, take Surtain and we end with Horn, who we appear to be leaning towards anyway.

-I am confident 4 QB's are going to be taken ahead of us.
-We should cheer a 2nd WR taken ahead of us, will guarantee a another top prospect to fall
-Atlanta can shake up the entire draft, will they take the #4 QB, Pitts or tradeback?
-Picks 7-9, can go in many different directions that could affect the Cowboys selection, one of these picks is going to be a QB, contingent on Atlanta's selection.
-Carolina is the biggest threat to take the first corner and they reportedly love Horn
-You would think Denver goes defense with a defensive HC
-Believe Pitts is either going to be a Falcon or a Dolphin.
-Hearing Chase is a lock for Cincy
-I'm convinced the Cowboys have Horn as their #1 Corner on their board
-Don't think the Cowboys trade back, think they will draft one of these 5: Pitts, Horn, Sewell, Surtain, Slater in this order.

Nice write-up thanks, mostly hearing the same. So who do you want tho ??

You have zero idea what contact they have had with the Tackles. Have heard Stephen specifically talk about Slater. I agree they will take a corner, but somehow shutout, it's going to be one of the Tackles if they stay at 10.

This is just mock draft talk, but I typically have trouble finding proper value at #44 when I take a cornerback in the first round. There is still talent at that position at corner in round two but other positions are a reach.

Same prob I have. 44 is like a dead zone. Of course, that's using lists that really have no real meaning, but still.

I'd like to see a trade up to top part of second round, because there will be fallers from the first there

That's a great point. Now that the NFL is basically a patsy game, is it worth such draft equity to get at CB early?

Your post definitely got me thinking. Was such a simple answer but I was totally overlooking the rules DB's have to play now.

Guys like Horn and Slater finding their way into the top 10 is the exact avenue by which we find Pitts or Sewell to be had at 10.

It's not impossible. Not likely, but not impossible.

Lots of surprises ahead. More than ever.

Not sure why they would panic for a CB when Slay is already their 1

It is speculation like everyone else. But the only insider I heard who thinks the Cowboys pick a tackle is Jeff Cavanaugh. The big insiders (Archer, Fish, Dane)say cornerback. I think you and I are the only ones that want the Cowboys to pick Slater.

Someone said this morning that the Eagles might trade up to 7 and take a CB. That would be just like them to trade into the top 10 for a non QB. The only way we could possibly know how the Cowboys have the players ranked is if all of them were available when we pick. Otherwise unless Jerry has a portrait taken in front of the Cowboys big board it's pure speculation.

Agree they want to take a corner, but if they are gone, think they will draft a Tackle.

any team which trades up for a CB in the top 10 is really really dumb.

was listening to Sirus XM this morning and Solomon Wilcox was talking about Detroit and their new GM Speilman. Speilman's said that the league is changing and you have to build from the outside in...no longer build the trenches...surprised me with that. A Detroit beat writer thinks they take Surtain.
