Thinking about it I kind of get why the Cowboys traded to 12 now. They had to know the Bears were looking to trade up so they had to know they would swap with Giants if they did not take their deal and take a QB which means the Cowboys effectively give up nothing and get an extra 3rd.

Dallas gave up nothing and took on no risk with their trade: Smith and Fields/Jones weren't on their radar, and Smith was going to a division rival regardless.

I would not be surprised to see Dallas trade 12 and yet end up with 2 picks in the 1st rd as we have the ammo to move back up in the 1st
