How do you feel about the Parsons pick?

An argument can be made that both LVE and Jaylon are busts.

LVE can't stay on the field and Jaylon has no awareness and limited change of direction ability.

So...yeah.

And now you see just what I’m upset about.

I’m not. I’m knocking this team’s decision making.

Well yea...that's been pretty bad for a while but Parsons was a great decision.

Run D was our biggest weakness last year and we just drafted the best defender in the draft who's biggest strength is run D. Get on board.

Interesting watch just released tonight by a Penn State site -- same one that did that film study on Parsons I posted here a few weeks ago. The host is a PFF analyst. Again, interesting and fair evalution -- not a homer vid

I already said this in a different thread. I'm not thrilled, but I can't complain because I don't believe the Cowboys could have done much better. Cornerback was a higher priority, but linebacker was also a position we couldn't afford not to draft. When Surtain & Horn got drafted in front of us, my best three options were Slater, Farley, & Parsons; all three of them were amongst the few legitimate first round players I graded, it's just each of them came with their own particular reason why they weren't coveted. So on top of getting a free third rounder from the Eagles, I'd say it's A+ execution of the draft process; it's just a matter of being comfortable with his allegations & settling for lower value at your highest position of need.

Not a Parsons fan. I was worried they would do this if the two CBs were off the board. I would have taken Slater.

But I love that the Eagles gave us a 3rd round pick. I wonder if the Giants would have stayed at 11 if Dallas had not made the trade?

I have mixed feelings.

1. I think LB is a low cost position so don't like investing a top 10 pick
2. I think Parsons is the best defensive player in the draft
3. Every mock I did that was any good involved trading down to 13, 14, or 15 and taking Parsons.

The guy is an exceptional pass rusher, the most reliable LB I have seen in getting off blocks, filling his gap, and making the tackle. The flip side is he hasn't spent time in coverage and I don't know how long it's gonna take for him to develop this area of his game. I would have taken a corner if there 100% but I was not in favor of trading up so what you gonna do?

This team has made questionable moves from a player standpoint, but taking the best defensive player at 12 is not one of them.

That whole series of picks was an emotional roller coaster unlike any I could remember in draftnik'ing. This was my internal monologue on the draft as filtered through two Old Fashioneds.

-Yes, Horn's off the board!

-Surtain to the Broncos. My night is ruined.

-God I wish we didn't pay Dak. Justin Fields at 10 would have been perfect.

-Cool, we traded the pick to New England for a bunch of picks.

-WHAT. PHILLY??? OH NO. OH GOD NO.

-DON'T GIVE PHILLY A FRANCHISE QB FOR A THIRD ROUND PICK. PLEASE. GOD. NO.

-PHILLY PICKED DEVONTA SMITH!!!! THEY THINK HURTS IS THE ANSWER. LET'S GOOOOOO.

-Giants traded?

-Giants got a future 1st from Chicago?

-AND WE GOT A 3RD???? F F F F

-I love that pick if I'm a Bears fan. You got QB2 for only one extra first, and you saved yourself one lost season with Dalton.

-Cool. We're up, haven't traded back again, is it going to be Parsons or Slater...

-Parsons. Cool. I'm fine with that.

-RIP LVE. Wish it was Jaylon.

-Parsons, Gregory, Zeke, Jaylon... this locker room is going to be a disaster and I love it.

Can you share the other video as well please? Thanks

He may turn out great, but I’m probably taking Slater there.
Hard to compare the two

Like the total miss in 2017 right?

“Let’s move along”, right.

And never again wonder why there have been 25 years of futility.

Just move along...

As opposed to what? It’s like a qb having a shorty memory. You gotta approach the draft fresh.

and I’m not sure what your hang up is wrt whether jaylon or LVE were bad picks. They would or wouldn’t be independent of the selection. But we’ve either got elite reinforcement or replacement.

Not a fan.

I wouldn’t take this player in the first round because I think he is too raw.

I’m not risking a pick on a linebacker who doesn’t come into the league showing the ability to cover. That’s something you need to find out when they are in college to validate a first round pick. Especially a top 15 pick.

It could work out. He’s raw and has athleticism but they will look like fools and people should be fired if we find out he has no coverage ability at this level.

Definitely wanted a corner but in the situation was hoping we got Slater..I think it says a lot that the front office was more concerned with the LBs than an aging OL.

if Parsons is a stud and can stay cool odd the field I won’t care.

I like the pick, with the additional 3rd that came with him. I would have liked Slater more but that doesn't mean I dislike Parsons.

Not crazy about it at all. Another first round LB...gross. Can get great ones in later rounds.
Concerned about off field stuff with Parsons. Still unsure if he will be great in the pros or not. That said, if he turns out as good as some think, he will fill a huge need. And was nice to add another 3rd round pick.
