I still can't help but think that if Jerry had a crystal ball and knew that Fields and Jones would be right there at the 10 spot that he would not have buckled and signed Dak to that contract.

So before the draft a lot of posters were saying don’t take a CB at 10 because there are plenty just as good available later. Now the sky is falling because we didn’t take one at 10. What gives.

Not all of us. Some of us admit we have no fricken clue about these players. How could we? Watching YouTube highlight videos? Please.

How do you think scouts evaluate talent? Watch the tape, but Parsons in my is not a better player than Slater based on position. The team just paid Dak and he has an offensive line that was all banged up.

I agree, people get so upset. If it's not the guy they wanted, this one obviously sucks?

I originally wanted Surtain but I'm happy they went D and found a quality football player to add to the stagnant D currently in place. Still hoping to add that 1 tech tonight and those 2 moves can make a huge difference!

I never said that then or now. What I said 100 times was corner doesn't matter when your front 7 is trash. Theoretically the front 7 got better. I d be happy if Barmore was the next pick.

A lot of you are acting like we just drafted the second coming of Bobby Carpenter. In the words of my friends from the Valley, tranquilo mi amigos. Did we get the CB we all wanted, no. I called it last night after Surtain went off the board the Boys would trade down. I figured with Minnesota or the Chargers and NOT a division opponent, but hey, not my decision. Maybe the eagles offer was better. Maybe the Vikings were only offering a 4th.

The point is, we all just need to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. We can be critical of the pick AFTER Parsons sees the field and how he performs, because I promise NOT A SINGLE ONE OF YOU, said Dak was going to be our future franchise QB when he was drafted in 2016. Just goes to show how much we as fans don't know jack ****.
First of all, carnál, I am from the Valley, and I said it since Training Camp of 2016 that Dak would become our starter that year. When both Romo and Moore went down with serious injuries in preseason, I said Dak would never relinquish the starting job back. I also said Dak would lead the Cowboys to an 11 game winning streak, and he did. I also said Dak would lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record that 2016 season, and he did.

So, if I want to critique the Parsons pick, I will because I know what I'm talking about. If you don't want to believe me, that's your right. All I've got to say is, "Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride." Time will tell, but I do hope Parsons works out since we need the help at LB.

By the way, you sound like one of my cousins. Are you from the Valley? If so, from which town? You sound like you might be related to me, especially since me and my primos say the exact same thing to each other when we don't agree on the Cowboys. lol

No problem with Parsons, but I cannot get over the lack of quality players picked up in FA. Pathetic. Carlos Watkins? Brent Urban? Yikes.
This I agree with 110%. We need to be more active in FA, absolutely. Try our best not to overpay for players but damn we haven't signed anyone of note in the last 5 or 6 years.

Nambe guey, I'm a gringo from el valle, I live in VA now but graduated form Sharyland. I also said that when Dak took over, after the pre season he had, Romo probably wouldnt see the field again unless dak fell off, which he didn't. I meant when we drafted Dak, no one thought he'd be the franchise QB. After that Pre-season tho? Oh i had hopes for sure.

I think the deal with FA is you start spending when those draftees are up to par. They keep adding to this D and finding some playmakers on draft day then I expect free agency to play a role as the young talent from these drafts improve. Year 2 new coach, brand new DC evaluate then spend. Could pay off in year 3 or 4. We'll see where the rest of this draft goes? Next year they probably get a little more active.

You are the only guy assuming he's a guard. He was the best tackle in the draft that competed against the best and took them to school. The tape shows what he is.

The Cowboys viewed him as an OG.

Analysis: Slater was a terrific left tackle at Northwestern who opted out of the 2020 season and then turned in a sensational pro-day workout. I prefer him as a zone-blocking guard rather than a left tackle in the NFL. In a system that puts him in motion and gives him a running start, Slater will be very effective at the next level.”

Scouts, coaches and GM's don't watch YouTube videos. They watch film we don't have access to. The watch from a position of experience in what it takes to be a good football player. They talk to the players. They talk to the players coaches. They talk to lots of folks. We don't do any of that so we have no clue.

Hey, I liked the pick + 3rd. Picking up the best overall defender and a free third rounder. I'm excited, especially for day 2.

Excuse you, young man. I said neither Pitts or Surtain would fall to us and was doubted. And then that's exactly what happened.
I said Pitts and Sewell wouldn't go 4 and 5 and I was right, someone even made a bet

Funny how this label only comes up if someone disagrees with you. But if I said this was a great pick and it agreed with you, I am no longer an armchair GM...
I said nothing for you or anyone to disagree with. Not sure where you got that other than your rear end. I'm saying we don't know if these players are going to pan out. Time will tell. No need to crap on them because you don't know. None of us do. Give them a damn chance instead of whining.

Órale, carnál! I'm from both La Feria y Santa Rosa (Class of '89). Back in my day, Sharyland was in the same 3A district...a very tough rival. Sharyland has grown tremendously in the 30+ years since then.

As for Dak, I knew and stated he would become our franchise QB when we drafted him, because I followed him during his Mississippi State college years. I knew he would become our franchise QB because Romo was finished due to his constantly broken up body, and Moore was too short.

What are you doing in Virginia? Got tired of the Valley heat and humidity? lol
