Definitely adds perspective

Then again, other than 2009, we didn't for sure know those drafts sucked on draft day.

Ahhh, The Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez draft!! My homeboy, Hakeem Nicks went to the Giants that year out of UNC. Looking back at it, that was indeed one of the worst drafts in history overall. Terrible.

The 2009 draft was a very bad draft for the NFL. Other than a few teams, it was pretty bad all around. The Cowboys weren't the only team to have a bad draft. Most people forget that Roy Williams has to be figured into that draft also.
Williams doesn't make it any better. He never went over 40 catches in single season in Dallas. If we drafted a WR like that in the 1st he would be looked at as a bust

Can you imagine how many thousands of hours (hundred thousand?) were spent arguing these guys? The world would be in a much better place if those arguments were spent doing something else :)

Go Heels.

Stafford was and is a stud but after that things got dicey pretty quick

That 2009 draft had no depth and was just awful all around.

They claimed the weak draft was part of the reasoning to make that deal.

That plus it was around the time Jerry was trying to get a stayjum deal.

He could have played more of a role, but I suppose Garrett wasn't about to change much for his sake.

The 2001 and 2009 drafts are why I had so much heartburn about trading our 1st for Amari Cooper. At least he's been good for us.

That 2006 draft included a couple of players that had pretty solid NFL careers (Fasano and Hatcher), just not with us.
Hatcher was a beast in 2013, funny thing is 2001 is when I really became a hardcore cowboys fan. First draft I got into, reading scouts takes, all that man I wanted Brees on the boyz so bad. 2009 was god awful. 2005 Ratliff and Chris Canty , Marion barber boy ther draft was fire

Glad the 2001 draft didn’t make you change your mind about your fandom.

What’s your point other than to crap on the team? Every team in the NFL has similar list of busts.

Bill Parcells is so overrated. He made his reputation coaching the NY Giants, a team full of stars drafted by George Young. His drafts with Dallas were overall, pretty mediocre and so was his record. I think Jerry gets to much of the blame for the bad Parcells years.

1 18
Bobby Carpenter
LB Ohio State soft as can be; drafted because his Dad was a tough RB played under Parcells( I dropped my head when this pick was made during the draft)

2 53
Anthony Fasano
TE Notre Dame( I actually predicted this pick because Parcells loved Mark Bavaro )

3 92
Jason Hatcher
DE Grambling( Liked his size but I knew nothing of him)

4 125
Skyler Green
WR Louisiana State( Midget WR who I thought very little of)

5 138
Pat Watkins
DB Florida State Super tall FS, a complete failure( Liked him ,rushed in too early messed him up )

6 182
Montavious Stanley
DT Louisville( Not thrilled about him)

7 211
Pat McQuistan
OG Weber State( I liked him and actually his twin brother Paul I had projected to us instead)

7 224
E.J. Whitley( didnt care)

I consider QC Jerry Jones worst ever pick)

2 56
Tony Dixon
DB Alabama A strong safety who was stiff, not strong and not safe( was rated a 5th round pick by experts,so I wasn't thrilled)

3 93
Willie Blade
OT Mississippi State Never made it to average( another low ranked prosprcts)

4 122
Markus Steele
LB Southern California( Liked him should have gotten more opportunity)

5 137
Matt Lehr OG
Virginia Tech Moved to center and was knocked back on every play( saw him as a backup)

6 171
Daleroy Stewart
DT Southern Mississippi( I liked his athletic traits. 6-4,325 lbs ran a 4.8 forty, but saddened he seemed uninterested in football)

7 207
Colston Weatherington
DE Central Missouri State( I actually liked him)

7 240
John Nix
DT Southern Mississippi( Overachiver with limited ability,he wasn't bad)

7 242
Char-ron Dorsey
OT Florida State( What I talk in my Jerry Jones disaster mock drafts. Frankenstein could be timed by a sundial in the forty)

Victor Butler
DL Oregon State Best pick, spot pass rusher and good( Actually impressed me,knee injury ruined his career)
