I’ve been going back and forth on the Parsons pick over Slater for a number of reasons.

I’m glad the front office saw the need for defensive playmakers, but the offensive line really scares me.

Tyron hasn’t played a full season since 2015, La’el has only played 2 full seasons in his 5 year career. Not to mention, Zach Martin getting banged up here and there. The other guys are still unproven.

We saw how pedestrian Zeke looked without those guys, and I think it has a trickle down effect on the entire unit.

Anyone else feeling the same, or am I overthinking this?
Nope all on track we have depth time to go..

I'm concerned to an extent, although, also hopeful that our OL will remain healthy much better than they have for the last few years. We should have better depth this year. We don't really know what to expect. Let's just hope for the best and deal with any problems that occur.

Short term I would not be extremely concern, but long term sure we could use some guys. I would have like more depth but I am hoping next years draft we can finally get a replacement.

Im concerned.

Tyron Smith seems to be at the end of his career and can’t be counted on to play a full season. There’s no viable backup except to move Zack Martin.

Connor Williams is the weak link on the line and yet they’ve done nothing to replace him. Your guard shouldn’t look like someone who could play tight end. He just doesn’t have the physical traits to play the position.

Martin and Collins should bounce back and Tyler is one mean SOB. But where’s the depth?

I gotta say I don't understand the take on Connor Williams.

I thought he played well last season.

A lot of folks that watched the Cowboys, both fans and people closer to the sport said he did a decent job.

PFF had him 16th rated OG (out of 80 that were rated). Even if you don't "buy" the PFF rating and you knock him back 10 pegs, that's still a good player.

I just don't think you're going to have a situation (again) where 4 out of the 5 offensive lineman are going to be injured for either all the season or a good chunk of it.

If they did, then it doesn't matter if they drafted Slater or not.

And if they did, you would still have a horrible defense to overcome.

I agree. Cowboys need to sign him long term.

yes i think Collins will probably not do well this year and with the pushing and beating he will take... im sure he will retire in a year or 2. but with McGovern playing ok last year you could slide him in a RG and move Martin out to RT.

I am very concerned. And i also think OL is the most overlooked deficite.

- You cant expect for Tyron to have a season where he gives you all 16 games on a high level.
- La'el is coming off surgery (where nobody knows what actually is the problem)
- LG is a problem
- Biadasz played good last year. But he still is a questionmark
- Martin shows injury concerns

So we could easily end up without two starting tackles (same situation as in 2020) problems at center and both guard positions.

So where is the backup plan ?

Yes, somewhat...however the defense -needed- serious upgrades because they whiffed on defense picks and ignored d-line needs so long in order to stack the offense. Now the payment for that comes due. The line should be okay but will need to be addressed in the next draft or the following one depending. AND THEY STILL REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETIES.

It totally depends on injuries to tackle position,if Tyron and Lael reasonably fit and available , line will function, if not then it wont .

Concerned about the depth, but we cant have everything on offense.

If Zack and La’el are back and Smith gives us 14 games we will have a top 5-7 oline.
We have a great WR group...top 2-3 in the league
We also have a solid RB group

Any legit starting QB—and that includes Dak—should tear it up

How can you not be? Smith and Collins coming off bad injuries. Smith hasn’t played a full season since 2015. Depth needs to be solid or else.

Not really

Last year was an anomaly, losing 4 of your top 5 OL to season ending injuries is a complete statistical outlier. Only one of the players in question (Tyron) could be described as injury prone.

As long as we only suffer normal levels of OL injury we’ll be fine

too late to be concerned about that lol. just have to hope starters hold up. This is true for any team though.

I don't think they've waited to long to rebuild. You can't prepare for a Fredrick situation, but they drafted Biadasz last year. McGovern the year before. CWill is coming up as a FA. Martin/Collins are still young for OL. They have quite a bit of young pieces. Tyron will be the next to fall as he has shown that even though he is 30...he will miss games. Maybe they get lucky and Ball is the long term solution.
Cowboys threw some darts at the problem. Let’s hope they got lucky.
