I proclaim on this 21st day of the 21st week of the 21st year in the 21st century, that the '92 or '93 Cowboys would have beaten any other NFC East SB champ.

I watched that detroit game not too long ago, and dallas got out coached and out played. Detroit played great, had good game plan, then
the next week they went back to being normal detroit.
If Dallas could have avoided that game, they might have done something.
Thats why next season jimmy and team were intent on being a top seed, week off and only 2 games to play and play at home.
That game was in detroit I think.

Also that dallas defense just wasnt good enough yet to get them thru a game like that detroit game.

Yep. That was an impossible situation at that moment in time for that Cowboys team on Defense. They simply did not matchup. Then you add in the environment which was incredible. They had mike utley out there before the start. The decibel level was record high if I remember correctly at that time. Dallas linebackers and secondary were just not good enough in that game without big time pressure.

That game directly led to all those great defensive players being drafted/signed/traded for that offseason. Charles Haley, Kevin Smith, Darren Woodson, Robert Jones then they traded for Thomas Everett in october of 92. Jones ended up being the rookie of the year in 92.

That 92 defense was great and the 93 defense was also great, maybe a little bit better.

I still would love to know what would happen had Dallas got a shot at that 91 Commanders team.

IMO, they were not. the 91 Commanders are one of maybe the 5 greatest teams ever. They were good at everything. They had an amazing home field setting, a great defense and a fantastic offense. The 91 team was better than 87.

those games are all out there on youtube and stuff. Go watch those seasons..90, 91, 92. Every nfc east game is like a playoff game. It was awesome.

LOL I lived it. If you the think the '91 team was better than the '87 team then you must also believe they're better than the '86 Giants. Because that '87 Commanders team was almost a carbon copy. Not quite as good defensively, but slightly better offensively than the '86 Giants.

But I do remember how good that '91 Commanders team was. Reminds me a little of the '98 Broncos. So you might be right. I sometimes let nostalgia take over.

Had simms not been hurt vs buffalo they may havegone 15-1 and been even better in the playoffs. That was a great team. The injury forced them to alter how they played a little and maybe that was the magic they needed because they beat two amazing teams and two of the most amazing offenses ever.

Can not put into words how big of a win that upset was at candlestick in the championship game. What Parcells and Bellichick came up with to beat those two offenses is truly remarkable. I Believe Bellichick's gameplan for SB 25 is in the hall of fame.
The SB 25 , if that was Buffalo Giants, that was one of the best SB's ever, it was amazing to me and got me to start analyzing games as to why
one team wins a close game.
I recorded it on vhs, and watched it once a year .
The last giants drive took over 10 minutes, and they scored a TD, and left little time on the clock for Buffalo.
That drive was also amazing, player after player making great plays just to get a first down ! Sometimes they had to go on 4th down.
and they would get it by inches or just a yard. Those players had heart and really gave their all on that drive.
It was a tense game to watch.

The dallas SB's are not that exciting, as they just blew buffalo out, only the first qtr was tense lol.

I actually do think the 91 Commanders were better than the 86 Giants. They were a great team. Those Giants Commanders games in those years were incredible. They would sometimes end up 14-10 but the games were so great.

Bill Parcells, Bill Bellichick and Ron Earhardt Vs. Joe Gibbs and Richie Petitbon.

It was pretty amazing to have watched all those games and I am grateful I got to see that era of nfc east football. I have always loved the Americas Game edition of the 86 giants, there is a moment when NY was at RFK and Parcells says to Simms, "They hate us so much they like us simms"

That was really what that era was about. intense rivalries where everyone respected the other one....well except for Buddy Ryan.

Detroit was stupid good at home and average away. To the point of being ridiculous. Two totally different teams. But I agree the Cowboys D was not that good in '91.

I don't think Detroit would have beaten the Commanders in Detroit. But I'm fairly confident it wouldn't have been a blowout.

Super Bowl 25 is the greatest super bowl ever. The teams, The coaches, The players, The setting, the moment, Whitney Houston in time and the ending. It was amazing across the board.

That Bills team in 1990 is better than I would say 50% of the teams that have won superbowls. I also believe they are better than any of Tom Brady's super bowl winning teams.

Bellichick devised a plan to let Thurman Thomas run free force them to kick field goals and not give up big plays in the passing game. Somehow it worked. I believe they played the whole game in Nickel defense.

I think the MVP of that game should have been that Giants WR that fought for that first down before the first half ended. I forget who it was. But that was the turning point IMO. That was an amazing individual effort that put the Giants back in it. Because I think they ended up scoring before the half ended.

Just want to add one thing. To me, a good Cowboys SB is when they blow out a team. I don't want to be sitting on the edge of my seat. But that's only with the Cowboys.

That was Mark Ingram. That is one of those amazing plays from that game. The Bill have so many what if's from that game. That 90 Giants team had the magic.

probably lose, maybe close game.
Dallas beat them earlier by out scoring them, and gambling on 4th down etc.
With a rusty Aikman, or Buerlein, I dont think they could keep up with Commanders in scoring. and like you said their defense wasnt
quite good enough yet.

you know that is another thing people forget, is when jimmy came to dallas, the Nfce was a powerful division, Commanders, giants, eagles
were all good, and skins were winning SB's , Giants were a SB team in decline but still good..
Jimmy had to build a team good enough to contend with the divisional opponents. And then teams like SF too. Not a easy task.
He wound up then having a dominant team in that tough div, which meant not many other teams could contend with cowboys.
Only SF was at the Dallas level.

I never said the cowboys would lose i just said they would not smash the giants or Commanders i think it is an interesting convo to have and discuss those teams were also very talented and i think it is a mistake to just dismiss them and no i do not smoke LOL
Give me a break dude. You belittled the 92 Cowboys with your “they would not smash the Giants or Commanders”. You obviously never watched the 92 Cowboys or you wouldn’t say the crap you’re saying.

all the cowboys SB's were kinda boring when they won, except the last one with pittsburgh.
all the rest they dominated. The SB's they lost however were exciting games ! lol
here are the giants wr, probably mark ingram or manuel? They fought hard all game lol plays like that is what caught my attention.

Yea absolutely. When Jimmy got there the giants and Commanders were superbowl level teams. The 89 Giants were really really good. They botched a couple of games and then got a terrible PI call against them late in the fourth quarter that allowed the rams to score and send it to overtime in the divisional round, the rams scored on a blown coverage on the opening drive of OT.

The giants niners game that happened in 90 should have happened in 89 but that NY team lost focus in that Rams game. It was a real motivating factor for them in 90, much like Dallas loss at SF in 94 being a big part of what drove that team in 95 to succeed.

anyway, The east was not only good they were great. Three great defenses in NY, Philly and Washington. They were big up front on both sides of the ball. Jimmy built a smaller faster team on defense to compete. It worked. Part of what drove all those teams to be great was the fact that they had to be to survive the division!

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Parcells not resigned from the Giants or If he had resigned earlier and Bellichick was promoted and hadn't left for cleveland....(lost his first game as HC of Cleveland at home vs Dallas in 91. It would have been a much tougher task getting through NY in those 92 and 93 seasons had either Bill been there. The 93 Giants gave Dallas all they could handle as it was.

Great times and Great games.

It's funny you mention the magic. Because that's the best way to describe it. DanyDon somewhat referred to it. They needed the magic to get past the 49ers. They needed it throughout the SB and they needed it on that last wide right FG.

I wouldn't argue with you about it either. That team was really good. But they were the 2nd best team in the NFC. They needed a miracle to beat the 49ers and they got it.

They played the niners on monday night football earlier in the year and lost 7-3. The NY Defense was dominant in that game too! They both started 10-0! Phil Simms got hurt and it took them a couple of weeks to get it together on offense and figure out how to handle Hostetler as QB. They were never really the #2 team in the nfc in 90 it was like 1A and 1B

Yeah you're pretty spot on. The Super Bowls the Cowboys lost were exciting. I absolutely despised Pittsburgh.

The 90 giants got two of the most incredible plays to go their way in the playoffs/Superbowl. Roger craig fumbled right after Montana was knocked out by leonard Marshall and then norwood missed wide right.

The giants defense played a really good game against the bills earlier in december when simms broke his foot but they couldn't come back to win.

They ended up losing to the bills and niners in the regular season by 3 or 4 points and then beat them both by less than a field goal.

90's Eagle teams were better than the 2017 Eagles team.
All the teams back then were far superior to the teams today.
Players were better and different back then.
Today we have all the spoiled millionaire divas, who run 60 yds to endzone to do a celebration for cameras lol.
They all fold in cold or bad weather games, and hardly any of them play to win, they play for big money and self glorification..

The coaches were also better back then.

So no team today could compete with the great teams of the 80's or 90's.

The eagles team that won the SB were good for this era, they earned it just as much as chiefs, TB, NE etc.
they were just stupid, and let the qb who won the SB walk and kept the guy who cant finish a season lol.
That SB team went poof! coaches left, Foles and other players left, and look at them now.

The NFC EAST won four Superbowls in a row. But only one team from that winning streak went back. So I'm going to jokingly say, Jimmy Johnson ran Parcells and Gibbs out of the division.

Also known as....Dallas would beat them all.
