Please, point me to the threads that are shooting in the light. Is this the only thread where they're not playing yet?

This time of year is all about conjecture, guessing and speculation and is actually pretty much fun because we have little evidence of anything for this season. Everybody is both right and wrong.
Understood. We are all bored and chasing dreams.

In my opinion Tank may benefit the most out of anyone from what they did this offseason (plus a full year of Gregory), People point at his production but you need to realize how easy it was for the other teams OC to scheme on that defense. other teams head coach "OC give me this weeks Cowboys gamplan"...OC " Pretty simple im going to put tank in a no win hurt locker every play as he is there only player"...head coach "well it worked last week for team A ....sounds good"....

When the other 10 players are that bad you have no chance ......

Kind of feels like you're making the cardinal sin of investing: buying high and selling low.

I can't predict either side. Every player on the D got what they wanted, a new DC but not just that, he's a players' DC.

Prescott returns as do the 3 OL and Elliott looked quicker in the videos from the OTA's and workouts.

I think most of the fall part has to do with injuries. How is Vander Esch's neck, is Smith's foot as good as it's gonna get and can Cooper stay close to 100% all season long?

I think the player most on the bubble is Conner Williams. It is time to fish or cut bait with him.

I don’t think it’s up to the Cowboys with regard to Williams. He hits unrestricted free agency after this season and Dallas can’t afford another high-priced offensive lineman. I think he will get a contract that will shock people.

That’s going to be a very interesting situation this year with Connor Williams. He’s never lacked ability. He’s just never been consistent enough IMO. Some weeks he plays well, the next he’s on skates. CW is one of the more mystifying players on this team. He certainly has the incentive to be at his best this year. We will see.

I hope you’re right, but Quinn came in and tore it up in 2019, getting 11.5 sacks in 14 games, to 5 sacks in 16 games for Lawrence.

He was definitely someone that opponents were scheming for.

I think he’s more solid and reliable than some fans realize. I see him definitely getting a contract the Cowboys can’t afford.

One of the most fun aspects of the off season is looking at the roster and trying to decide whose stock will rise and whose will fall. There will always be surprises.

With that in mind, here is a list of guys I think will emerge as young stars. In other words, these guys’ stock will be on the rise in 2021:

RISERS (emerging stars)
  • Michael Gallup- so far, he’s easily been the best part of the 2018 draft. He’s become one of my favorite Cowboys. With Cooper and Lamb drawing attention, Gallup can continue his healthy 15.6 yard per reception average- one of the best in football. He’s going to garner a much bigger contract next year.
  • FALLERS (guys that are diminishing in value- hope I’m wrong)
  • Zeke Elliott- the days of Zeke having 25 carries for 150 yards are in the rear view mirror. He will still have some value for sure. But he’s never going to be 2016 Zeke again.
  • Amari Cooper- Coop always has great stats, but he has a bad habit of disappearing in big games. He’s not making $20 mil a year to disappear. He will still be the best route runner in football, but he’s also still carrying those nagging foot and leg injuries that quietly sideline him too often.
  • LVE- that nagging neck injury has robbed a very talented guy from being a top NFL LB. If he were healthy, his speed and tackling ability would make him a stud. But he’s had this neck problem since his Boise State days. That’s troubling.
I left a lot of guys off both lists for brevity sake. Some of the bigger names like Dak, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, etc, are people I hope will return to prominence. We will see.

Who are your risers and fallers?

Gallup will be a faller, IMO. He'll get good production per target, but the targets and snaps will drop. Lamb has got to get more snaps. TE gets more snaps and targets with Jarwin back.

I think Zeke will have a bounce back year. The offense will be a lot stronger around him, and supposedly he's in better shape. Easier row to hoe. He never looks like 2016 again, but all his productivity stats should climb out of the gutter.

LVE, maybe a bounce back season too. I don't know. His problem last year seemed to be more about confusion, which was widespread on the defense, than about health. With a full offseason to prepare on the new defense, and hopefully a better DC, I think there's a decent chance he looks more like 2018 than 2019 and 2020.

Here's a riser - CWilliams. Outside chance he makes the Pro Bowl. More likely he's at least considered a possibility. The offense around him will be better, the oline better, and Zeke running better (I think). May get him some consideration. And he's been fully healthy this offseason. Whether there is pro bowl talk or not, his stock will go up, and he'll get a big fat contract in FA as a guy still only 25 next year with his prime all ahead of him.

Risers:

1. Jarwin is on his way to being a top 10 TE this year.

Nice one. Should have been obvious. I was thinking the same before he went down last year. Such a great situation to be in for a TE. The rest of the offense is so strong that teams will just take their chances on Jarwin. He'll be there all day long every week. I see him and Gallup competing for targets and yardage, and that's a great comp for a TE.

With that in mind, here is a list of guys I think will emerge as young stars. In other words, these guys’ stock will be on the rise in 2021:

RISERS (emerging stars)
  • Micah Parsons- I expect new DC Dan Quinn to find lots of ways to make the 12th pick in the 2021 draft a real defensive weapon. If he’s healthy all year, Parsons will be our leading tackler and probably the most exciting player to watch on defense. All the disappointed Cowboys fans on draft night are going to have to admit this guy is a beast.
  • Trayvon Diggs- after an up and down rookie season, I think Diggs is going to emerge as potential pro bowl corner. Mentally and physically tough, I’m expecting a breakout season from this guy.
  • Cedee Lamb- after an outstanding rookie season, Lamb can still improve a lot. He had a ton of drops last year. If he improves on that, look out. He may even become the team’s leading receiver. With Cooper and Gallup drawing some attention from defenses, Lamb could become THE guy at WR.
  • Tyler Biadz- He had a decent rookie season in spurts until he got hurt. He’s not yet T- Fred material but if Zack Martin, La’El Collins and Ty Smith are all healthy, Biadz will grow a lot.
  • Hunter Niswander- this dude was a great midseason addition at punter last year. He avg 47.6 yards a punt and had a whopping 10 punts inside the 20. Having a punter with these kind of numbers helps a defense out a ton.
FALLERS (guys that are diminishing in value- hope I’m wrong)
  • Jaylon Smith- With that contract and his awful performance last year, he certainly has incentive to get back to decent. But I just don’t have any confidence that he still has that in him. He’s a great story of perseverance but I wonder if that story is winding down. This is probably his last hurrah in Big D.
I left a lot of guys off both lists for brevity sake. Some of the bigger names like Dak, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, etc, are people I hope will return to prominence. We will see.

Who are your risers and fallers?

Zeke, LVE and Jaylon have already fallen. Really only way they can go is up. Cooper I think will have a very good season. Your risers I like, but I would definitely add Gregory and possibly Jarwin.

I can see where this thread is going real quick. Typical Debbie downers will take over about Zeke and Dak.. It already started.

I say Zeke and Dak will be on the rise. Healthy and a healthy OL. Zeke battled through 2 different nagging injuries last season But the haters will not admit that was an issue.
Jaylon and LVE is a wait and see, I really do not know what to expect from them. Just hoping for the best. Same for Conner Williams.

Biadasz on the rise, along with Gregory.
DLaw may fall a bit, but not too much.

I think we will see more on the rise than any players that will fall. It is still a young hungry team. Players such as Crawford are gone, that was holding other players back.

It only takes a downturn if you even bother responding to some troll moron predicting that Dak will fall.

on the rise
offense:
•ot la'el collins...i think he has a pro bowl season.
•og connor williams
•c tyler biadasz...builds off what he showed last season.

defense:
•de demarcus lawrence...one of the best run defenders at his position...finally has some help that should loosen up those double teams.
•dt neville gallimore...continues to build off his good work from last season.
•cb trevon diggs...i think he snags a pro bowl spot.

on the fall
offense:
•wr noah brown...gonna be hard to make the 53 if they decide to go long at ot.
fehoko may push him off the roster.
special teams play is his best bet.
•wr cedrick wilson...see above.
•og connor mcgovern...i don't think he beats out williams for anything.
and biadasz i think is our long term answer at c.
if he's gonna make a move...its now or never.
defense:
•de bradle anae...de room is crowded with quinn's preference for longer arms and draft picks.
osa can play both de and dt...anae has an up-hill battle just to stay in the room.
•lb luke gifford...with neal and draft picks micah parsons and jabril cox...i think gifford is on borrowed time.
•db reggie robinson...its been one hill after another.
he wasn't helped by the staff last year...and the new dc this year didnt draft him and cherry picked kelvin joseph, nahshon wright and makuamu.
his path is what he does in the pre-season games and on special teams.
with so many young guys...its gonna be hard to take away a vets spot.

Completely different players and men when it comes to drive. Prescott marches to an entirely different drummer than Elliott.
