I sure prefer a thread like this one instead of ones like this.
https://cowboyszone.com/threads/is-this-team-honest-with-itself.481315/

They are judging this team after two preseason games with most of the starters on offense and key ones on defense haven't even played yet.

And even if the defense is improved we have a quarterback coming off an injury that’s still having issues.

We’ve had a quarter century of offense and defense never peaking in the same season. With a completely healthy quarterback we should be able to win this weak, weak division.....but history says we would be one and done in the playoffs

Who are these dudes getting after the QB this year? That's where I think think the big weakness will be.

The offense should be good and the defense should at least be competent at run defense and in the secondary, unlike last year. But there aren't nearly enough dudes on defense. Parsons might be the only one.

Maybe next year if they hit on another draft pick or two and the young kids develop, because the offense should still be good. One thing's for sure, they're in the right conference. Wouldn't have any chance in the AFC.

my exact sentiments. who are these pass rushers? I also think the pass rush is our biggest weakness.

I'd like to call this the Tsunami Defence. Teams won't see it coming after what happened last year. By the time teams face us, it's too late. The defence is a huge wave of hit the QB after hit the QB. If the defence plays as it should, we will have a variety of ways to rush the QB and swallow up RBs.

After watching last nights loss to the Cardinals...I came away convinced we are the team to beat in the NFC.

Why?

Defensive pressure....

If teams are gonna live in the spread/shotgun offense...and we rush 5 or 6 guys like we did all night long last night....

We are gonna be a hand full to deal with.

And to think we didn't even have our starters going....

Seriously....I'm buying in now.

If you look @ this team...the majority of our guys are hitting their prime....right now.

Breaking down position by position...we have as much talent as anyone in the league.

The only thing I see keeping us from getting to the top is bad coaching and/or injury.

Injuries happen...

But right now...on the coaching front....Kellen has the weapons....and I think we have enough depth on the O-line to keep things from happening like they did last season....

Defensively....Adding Dan Quinn's aggressiveness is gonna be huge.

It looks like getting after the QB isn't just going to be lip service this year. We got some dudes this year...

And we haven't even seen D-Law and Gregory yet....

It just feels like we are so much deeper on defense than years past....and we are finally phasing out the guys that teams used to target....

Anthony Brown
Jaylon
Lee
Crawford
Thompson

Still a little worried about special teams....if we can find someone to return kicks...and if Zuerlein will be healthy....but for now....I'm buying into what direction we are headed as a team.

It's been a long time since I could say with confidence...I feel like we can compete with anybody...and mean it.

I just feel like our time is now...and for whatever comes our way Jerry needs to push all in to make it happen now. If injuries hit...so be it....push through it. Make the moves necessary to go all the way. We have the talent now...now all we need is the commitment to see it through...

Its one thing to say we are winning the SB, but to say its based off the game against the Cardinals makes you look like a crazy person.

I can see that, but he's actually not wrong entirely. Defence wins championships, and I too see the improvement. Do I think we will win the SB this year? I don't know. I have said before and will reiterate that I think this season is comparable to the 1991-1992 season. We don't quite make it there this season, but you know something very special is being built. Then next year is when we come over the top and destroy every team in our path.

You might have the case of "premature exaltation" a bit here buckaroo. Yes, i am sure the defense will be playing better than last year, but that is a low bar to clear. It will be a new scheme with mostly new players. The offense should be fine since Dallas has invested heavily and paid more attention to it the last several years. I do expect them to have a better record than last year and contend for the division title. But being SB bound i don't know. I reserve judgment on that until i at least see them on the field. Most teams feel just as optimistic at this point of the season.

If the defense is as good as I think it might be, it could be a very fun season. Pressure on the QB will be key and if Gregory can finally give Dallas some return on investment, Lawrence can get back to form and Parsons can bring the heat like I know he can… then things will get uncomfortable for opposing QB’s.

For them to do that, they’ll need the DB’s to cover long enough for them to get home. And maybe Dallas has the guys to do it. I actually like most of the guys in the secondary and I think Dallas has done a good job of re-vamping the back end.

it is going to be interesting, indeed.

Seeing improvement against 2nd stringers is nice, but it doesnt make a leap to winning the SB. This is the talk of a crazy person. And if you watch guys like Jaylon and LVE out there, you will still see some major issues that DC's are going to attack without mercy. Then we have our starting 3T out for 6 weeks and find out Gregory has a foot injury.

Definitely an odd time to be talking about winning SB's.

That's why I referenced the 1991-1992 season. I don't know if we are quite there yet, especially with the injuries. However, I do think we are building something special that we will begin to see this year and will destroy every team in our path next year.

Arrow is definitely pointing up. But at this point, we are still an injury or two away from disaster.

Which is why I think this team needs one more year before it unleashes it's full potential. We have the starters. If the team stays heathy the whole season, I think we can win the SB if the team develops more quickly than expected. However, injuries do happen, which is why I think we win it all next year.

Perhaps hidden gems that Quinn is smiling about.
Yes Gregory and Lawrence, but Armstrong, Carter and Anae are just creeping into the conversation.
