There is a lot that can be covered here but I’ll keep it relatively short and to the point. Obviously the offensive side of the ball has more talent and higher expectations going into this season.

However, in relation to what the expectations are for each unit - I actually have more confidence that the defense is going to perform at or above expectations for this coming season. What are your expectations for each unit - let’s just use PPG for both and which unit do you feel will perform better in regards to those expectations?

Expectations
Offense - top 5
Defense - around 24th (near bottom quarter)

What I think will happen
Offense - top 10
Defense - top 20

concerns: Concerned about K. Moore/not sure he can handle the expectations of this unit. Also worried about the health of the OL for a full season
I also seem to have much more confidence in Quinn that any other coach on this staff, fat mike included.

I'm going out on a limb here and will project the D as a top half of the league, let's say 15. Not a top 10. This depends on Dallas being able to control the ball on offense, get ahead, and make the other team somewhat one dimensional. I have a lot more confidence in our defensive backfield than last year. Also the DL will be better when Gallimore gets back.

Offense. Top 5. This is very dependant on OL health as JBS stated. Also on Dak's health and mobility. I am optimistic.

Offense top 5 barring injury's like last year

Defense 12-16

The issue with stats and ranking is that they are not divided as they should be.

One is stats against teams considered equal to or beneath the Cowboys.

The second and only really important one is stats, and record, against true contenders.

I’m not sure how or why you came to this conclusion. But id be surprised if there was anyone on this board that actually cares who this team beats. They care about getting into the postseason and winning x number of games. Who you beat to get there isn’t relevant to almost anyone.

While true, I think your stats against true contenders is always going to be lower than it is against the bad teams.

Yeah after seeing us get done in by the likes of Sam Darnold and Mitch Tribusky over the years......I honestly could care less who they beat just as long as they are in the playoffs.

Offense will be slightly worse than people expect. The defense will be average, which is a step up from the slop we saw last year.

Might be enough to win the division.
I do wonder though how this team will fair if they don't get as many turnovers as last year......but then again I guess that's pretty much the 2019 defense which I think most would welcome as opposed to the crap we saw last year at times.

Depends on how you rank the offense i.e. total yards, scoring etc. Same with the defense, points allowed, yards allowed, etc.

A top 10 offense but I'm afraid it's gonna be one dimensional and pass happy. If Zeke plays and shows the burst he's been lacking, that could propel this offense into the top 5.

Defense in the 18 to 14 range. I like the infusion of speed. Still not completely sold on the DTs.

I think offense will rank in top 5 in scoring and yards. Defensively I think we will likely be middle of the pack in terms of yardage and points allowed but my hope is we are in top 10 in terms of turnovers.

So, you don't think it's important how a team performs against the teams it might face in the playoffs? What teams are those "x number of games" going to be against?

And I have miles of posts that say you are wrong about posters caring who this team beats. That has been the whole base for the argument against the QB, how he performs against the true contenders.
