Mike McCarthy announced Monday that Rush will take the first-team snaps in practice this week and start the final preseason game Sunday against the Jaguars.

“He’s earned this opportunity,” McCarthy said.

Rush went 10-of-12 for 97 yards with two touchdowns and a 139.9 passer rating against the Texans on Saturday, while Gilbert was 3-of-5 for 30 yards and a 77.1 rating. DiNucci, a seventh-round choice in 2020, threw three interceptions against Houston in his ongoing struggles to grasp the position.

McCarthy called Rush “very steady, very consistent.”

“Cooper lives here year round,” McCarthy said, via Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press. “He has been here every day throughout the offseason. He is super intelligent. He has a great understanding. He knows the ropes around here. He has a history in the offense. That is the point I am making. And he was always prepared for his opportunity. He fought through two injuries — both the shoulder and the back. I thought he played well against Houston.”

He certainly looks better than the other 2.

Rush to start.....which means Prescott will not.

Is that news or am I late to the party on that?

I don't at all agree with the guy getting zero reps....I mean, at least a series.

It's beginning to creep into my head that #10 is going to start in Tampa also.

Next we know we are shopping for Thanksgiving dinner and the kid is telling us that's its just precautionary.....and that the Yankees are close to signing off on Prescott playing soon.

And we also expect to get hot out of nowhere and win the Super Bowl.

Secret Sauce !!

"Cooooooooooooooooooop"!

Wait...wrong Coop. Dang it.

Yep....looks like Gilbert will be looking for his 9th team in the last 8 years. And DaNooch will be lucky if they put him on the PS. All eyes now on Rush. He will probably remain on the 53 team for now by process of elimination, but Dallas desperate for vet backup. Will have to wait for the last cutdown date or see if they can swing a trade.

No, he was never going to play in the last game as most of the starters--most importantly, the offensive line--will not start.

If he was going to get any PS reps, the Houston game was his last chance.
Yep thanks.

Starting QBs typically don't play in the 4th PS game, but I thought this may be the exception since he hasn't played at all and maybe they wanted to give him another week.

I suspect at least part of the rationale is that he didn't play preseason last year.....but no one did.

It's hardly apples to apples.

One more good look for Rush.....but it certainly tells me Gilbert is done

And i'm not that all certain about Gilbert being a goner. Who knows what these Cowboys coaches' mentality and intentions are with Gilbert.

Heck they did not even bother to seriously get legit competition vs Gilbert , rather than just give him the No.2 role by default, and not deciding to go after notable backup names
such as Joe Flacco, Colt McCoy and Tyrod Taylor, that would Not have cost them much more than 5 million on a year deal.

They decided that they wanted to do the Money Ball approach again, and with the lone position that is just too critical to gamble and dangle around as such.
