News: PFT: Cooper Rush will start final preseason game for Cowboys

I know it is just preseason, but where they hell are all the weapons Moore was bragging about. It looks like he is shooting with a BB gun out there!!!

A girly BB gun!!!
so you want him to use his best plays in PS show TB his plan and with all his backups?..smh what freaking.........nm:facepalm: that what CLOSED practices are for..o_O

wrong watch GMF there are many starters who haven't taken snaps this offseason others like 10 snaps etc and other off seasons last year Dak had no offseason PS games and came out pretty hot ..im not concerned..

why am i less concerned , did you see Gilberts foot get stepped on by martin on the first pass snap , imagine how easy that could have been daks repaired ankle in a meaningless game? one wrong hit like Romos ion 16??

they would have played in some in PS but decided to be fully sure there are no setbacks

hes fine not big deal that you al think rush would start..want to be concerned if they made trade last week or two weeks ago after the follow-up MRI and got real backup..that didnt happen is all i need to know

his pregame warmups and continuing to practice every day since the injury's..hes throwing.hes practicing..hes fine.l.jeez PROZAC man
Relax man.

No need for Prozac references. That wouldn't help anyway lol.

It’s funny to see that person giving anyone else advice about ‘calming down’. A little self reflection is in order there.

I am used to watching the Dallas Paper Tigers. Let him save his plays.

Well in fairness they kind of DIDN'T last year with Dalton and for the most part he was terrible. So I can understand why in some ways.

For the most part, we ended up being one game away from a playoff berth in an awkward NFC East division race, with a backup QB, a shabbles of injuries
with only one lone healthy starter on the OL, and the worst defense in Cowboys history, Dalton could not have been all that terrible.

That's why i'm saying, despite the odds, despite the adversity, despite the injuries, despite the mess around him, and what he is limited working with, you'd like to have the
backup reserve that still allows your team to have a fighting chance to be competitive as much as possible.

Rush starting, but not with starters ! lol
He did good last week, but now he has to repeat that. the pressure is on ! lets see how he does.
And dont forget GG and nooch will still play too.
Jags used to have a good defense, not sure what they have now, and how good they will be this game.

Mike McCarthy announced Monday that Rush will take the first-team snaps in practice this week and start the final preseason game Sunday against the Jaguars.

“He’s earned this opportunity,” McCarthy said.

Rush went 10-of-12 for 97 yards with two touchdowns and a 139.9 passer rating against the Texans on Saturday, while Gilbert was 3-of-5 for 30 yards and a 77.1 rating. DiNucci, a seventh-round choice in 2020, threw three interceptions against Houston in his ongoing struggles to grasp the position.

McCarthy called Rush “very steady, very consistent.”

“Cooper lives here year round,” McCarthy said, via Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press. “He has been here every day throughout the offseason. He is super intelligent. He has a great understanding. He knows the ropes around here. He has a history in the offense. That is the point I am making. And he was always prepared for his opportunity. He fought through two injuries — both the shoulder and the back. I thought he played well against Houston.”

i bet tha Rush will lead the offence in BOTH passing and yds. rushing!

Wondering what the C'boys' staff might do if Rush has a day like the one he had in his 1st preseason game! Pandemonium, anyone? :omg:

I'm curious who else will start.

On offense, I think it will be:

QB Rush
FB Ralston
TB Dowdle
TE Sprinkle
WR Brown
WR Wilson
Third-down WR Fehoko
LT Steele
LG McGovern
C Farniok
RG Knight
RT Nsekhe

Defense is a little bit harder:

DE/LEO Anae
DT Bohanna
DT Hamilton
DE Armstrong/Faoliu in 3-4 fronts
LB Cox
LB Gifford
Nickel CB Canady/LB ? in 3-4 fronts (maybe Kamara since we don't really have any other backups unless we play Smith or LVE)
CB Wright
CB Joseph
SS Thompson
FS Parker/Mukuamu (don't know if he'll play because of COVID protocols)

You must be an anarchist.

Rush to start.....which means Prescott will not.

Is that news or am I late to the party on that?

I don't at all agree with the guy getting zero reps....I mean, at least a series.

!!

last preseason game , starters never play and so it is expected, Dak should have had a series at least in the 3rd game , if he could go , but he didn’t . That speaks the coaching staff is scared to get him out there ( I would have preferred him handing the ball to RB or just dumping it off )

Going to face the strong Buccs D as a start , hmmm something is not right !

So, here's an interesting take from CowboysWire at USAToday.
https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/20...ooper-rush-backup-qb-battle/?ref=SiteHype.com

Rush didn’t just outplay Gilbert on Saturday he’s done so for the entire preseason. While Gilbert has gone 19 of 34 (55.8%) for 214 yards, Rush has completed 25 of his 38 passes (65.7%) for 256 yards. Another strong performance by Rush against the Jaguars and the backup role to Prescott looks to be his for 2021.

Seemed obvious at this point. He looks like he wants to be the backup. The other 2 just looked like they were hoping not to get cut. Especially Gilbert.
