Wife is having hernia surgery

Next Thursday has anyone here had that done? A funny thing is she has to fart before they release her after the surgery . That is what her Doctor told her. Do they have fart monitors or will they just take her word on it?

The doctor actually told her that I thought it was funny. But the surgery is real. been bugging her for years

Thanks for the info I had to pepe to be released after my surgery Failed to do it on my 1st attempt so I started drinking lots of waster. Shoulder separation not hernia never had one and dont want a hernia ever!

I developed an inguinal hernia that was repaired with mesh back in 2010 (life of an Aerial Porter). They didn't say anything about 'farting' for them before leaving the hospital, but I had the old fashioned surgery where it left me with a 6" scar. I'm guessing your Wife is have the new style where they make two small incisions, one for air and one for the repair. Maybe that air pressure has a chance to create a pocket or something?

My brother just had hernia surgery a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately he also recently got Lyme Disease, which is making it difficult to heal.

When I had my gallbladder removed, they wouldn't let me leave until I crapped. I spent hours walking around the halls and doing whatever to try to get things moving, but I hadn't really eaten anything in 2 or 3 days. Finally I just walked up to the nurse and said, "Sorry, looks like you're gonna have to earn your pay today...It's enema time."

I'm not sure what the difference is But the hernia is lower right abdomen and large The Doctor said she was only making 1 Incision because she has a surgery scar in the area from a surgery to fix a hole in her intestines' That one almost killed her and the hernia may be related they are calling it a sports hernia. It was the result of a large part being pushed into her belly that was on a table at work Guess it could be called an impact hernia if there is such a thing

Ha when they told be I had to pee to be released they had just removed a catheter how the hek are you going to pee when they have had a catheter in ya for 2 days? When I could not they put another one in I asked how am I gonna pee with that damn thing in me.

I had an umbilical hernia repaired a few years ago. It was really no big deal. They made me get up and pee but hadn't heard the farting thing before. Best of luck to y'all.

I think she's got a prankster for a doc. Make sure he doesn't have his phone recording when she does it. She doesn't want to be on his YouTube "Patients I Made Fart Before Sending Them Home" channel or "I've got just enough gas to get home". They never asked me to fart before leaving but I do recall them asking me stop when I arrived. I get to a hospital, I feel all bodily functions are game and expected. If not there, where?

Gip, I had one repaired in 2009 and the most unpleasant part of it was that surgical tape they had over the incision. It restricted movement which really wasn't all that bad since I wasn't supposed to Bossa Nova for several weeks. Just tell her to take it slow n easy and be a good nurse to her. And stop making her tote that barge and lift that bale. Move to the country and work your woman like a mule. City boys need training on how to live the country life.

Now, as a parting gift from my hip and exacerbated by the gall bladder removal, I've got one on the left side. It is not a priority and some people never get them repaired unless they cause them too much discomfort but there is a possible danger of the intestine becoming twisted and blocked and that can be a real problem.

My doc told me that a lot of fat guys don't even know they have them so since I noticed I have two, I will take that as a compliment.

Seriously, my friend, good luck to her in her recovery and help her follow the doctors orders. Which may include hiding a Whoopie cushion on your person to get her home.

I would imagine straining to expel pent up gasses would be something they would want you to avoid, even with a 1" incision. But I am not a doctor.
