That so many of you are focused on the money and thinking somehow JS's paycheck is an entitlement to laugh at the man says so much. I have no problem with the move, I have a problem with people rejoicing at another's failure. It's a pathetic, loser's mentality and a poor excuse for bad behavior.

I think most are rejoicing that it makes us a better football team.

I personally dont get why they did this. If they were doing this they should have prior to season. I dont think this is good for the locker room as Smith was a popular guy in there.

That being said it will open playing time for Cox that is well deserved and will likely be more effective. Secondly, anyone find it odd that NE also cut Gilmore shortly after? If this move means it is a Smith for Gilmore swap in our D I am all for it. This would instantly make our D a top unit with both Diggs and Gilmore on the outside and Cox getting more playing time.

The signing of Gilmore would also mean a CB (Brown) would be on the way out as well. It could end up being a WIN-WIN situation transpiring right in front of us.

Great guy, great teammate, great in the locker room, and a very hard worker but unfortunately a very bad pick by the Cowboys. There was no way he was going to be able to compete at a high level in the NFL coming off a knee injury like that. Plus you don't waste a second round pick on a guy that won't see the field for a year and a half, you need your second round pick to see significant playing time as soon as he steps on the field and that certainly wasn't the case with Smith. On top of that once he can back he continued to play with a slight hitch in his step which slowed him down tremendously. I wish him well in the future where ever he ends up.

But is Gilmore healthy is the question.

IMHO this is a Dan Quinn move and only became possible now because idiot Jerry finally took away his magic cloak of protection. Quinn has changed everything and Jerry has relinquished some control. Such a great thing for the team moving forward. I have big hope now that D Flaw does not get another 19 million next year. Great things are happening.

Our only shot at Gilmore was in a trade as a 1 year rental. . . Gilmore is gonna want multiple years and the Boys can't provide that

I’m talking about the one specific quote. “He ran the most.” Why say that?
i definetly think he could have worded his response better. Taking that comment in context (replying to the reporter), I dont think he was way out of line. I mean the reporter asked about the QBs ability to run. I think Smith is basically saying as I was the QB spy, I was running a lot today chasing him. Maybe his wording could have been better, but I have a hard time believing that this comment was what did him in. Many can agree that his play was not at the level that we would have hoped. He certainly looked like he was laboring just to run an maneuver. Then you have the injury clause. May even be something else to boot behind the scenes that we are not privy too. It is a surprise move, but one that gives me some confidence.

Problem with some Cowboy fans are exactly comments as such. People comparing what transpired with Smith as a precursor to what will happen with Lawrence. People dont get how important it is to have DLaw in the lineup every game. He helps the D in so many ways and he is unreplaceable. He is actually the piece this D needs right now to make this team take the next step. His demand of double teams and ability to be an excellent run stopper as a DE is something that this team is needing right now.

With Parsons and Gregory being able to get after the QB now, offences can no long double team DLaw alone. So yes maybe DLaw is getting paid to sack a QB but up to now its been him and only him on the D side of the ball that was a threat. Today and so far this season, the defensive scheme and players brought in will open things up to Lawrence to not only do the things he does extremely well already but also get back to getting at the QB for sacks.

I just find it funny that some put him and Smith in the same category of overpaid. DLaw has tremendous value even if he doesnt get at QB. But in time when hes back fans like these will see what this scheme will do for the stats that they are only looking for.

I'm surprised they took the hit this year and didn't cut him after the season. He seemed to be a decent role player with limited snaps.

DLaw (IF healthy) coming in and contributing on this young rotation will be the same as when Charles Haley came onboard and took us to the next level.

People forget he only got 4-6 sacks his first few seasons here in that pass rush rotation. He didn't get the 10+ until we started losing players to the salary cap.

If Tanks gets hurt again later this year, he's a goner. Sad but true.

They were unable to release him prior to the season. He had wrist surgery and his contract was fully guaranteed. Same would happen if injured this season or next offseason

Anyone believing LVE to be a better LB are just as ridiculous as Jaylon's antics. He just doesn't have the outlandish antics on tape. Smith's celebratory antics were used against him. There is no way that Smith was the 5th rated LB and LVE was 4th. Stop lying to yourselves. I am glad that he is gone and I hope LVE returns to Pro Bowl status.
