Parsons is slam dunk DROY.

And he is competing with Diggs for DPOY too.

Kid is absolutely special.

Parsons needs to be on the field for almost every defensive snap. That's why he plays LB and not just an edge rusher. He played 97% of the snaps last night (64 snaps). For comparison, Randy Gregory played 74% (49 snaps) and that was the highest for any DL. Pass rushers get worn down easier so they usually don't play the majority of the snaps (ex: 1st and 2nd down subs).

Keep using Parsons in this hybrid role to keep him on the field. It also makes things much more difficult for opposing offenses to figure out how to stop him. If he is only rushing the passer, you can counter that by providing pass protection help, running the ball to his side, getting rid of the ball quickly, etc.

Micah Parsons sure makes a lot of tackles... around the line of scrimmage!
Sometimes, even behind the LOS.
Those are called tackles for loss, kids... lol

i'm pretty sure tackling a player before he's able to gain positive yardage is illegal.

This has been the key to the turnaround of this defense. Similar athletes. But Parsons stops plays before they start because of his instincts. Jaylon was so lost out there and only made tackles 5-10 yards down the field. Kudos to the front office for not sticking with the sunk cost of Jaylon and passing on a generational talent in Parsons. (Also got a little lucky that neither Surtain nor Horn fell).

Lets also talk about how bad LVE sucks. He has a REAL issue with tackling. He must close his eyes a second before me makes a tackle. And he doesnt seem to posses the power for such a big guy.

.
But Catch17 told us that Parsons didnt make enough plays from the Lber position.

11 tackles and 4 TFL. Incredible.

Ironically there were folks on draft day that were actually comparing Micah Parsons to Jaylon Smith.
Even suggesting that could've been a reason why he eventually fell in the NFL draft ..to Cowboys slot.
Despite being an incredible blend of size- speed.

- More irony ? Jerry has publicly insisted that Cowboys had pegged Parsons as the best defensive player in the NFL draft.
Yet they reportedly coveted and prepared to take CBs Jaycee Horn or Patrick Surtain Jr. instead of Parsons. And then dared to
move down further per trade, further risking Parson getting swiped by another NFL team.

- i don't think he's not quite Von Miller but definitely more an generational athletic freak.
He's naturally fast and explosive and he plays like it on the field. I've seen some here wanting him at OLB edge ala TJ Watts.
But i'm one that thinks and prefers him in the middle LB who can be best schemed in a various roles, spots where he is going forward
or laterally.

Watching the clip form Baldy over and over again revelaed something to me about LVE.

Roll the clip to the 1:56 mark. Lokk where the players are pre-snap.

Now slowly move the clip through each of the keys.

1. Pre-snap where is LVE and Parsons?
2. When the play action fake is completed with Cook where is LVE in respect to Parsons?
3. When the pass is thrown by Cousins where is LVE in respect to Parsons?

What did I see?

A guy who is hesitant.

Takes false steps in the in wrong direction based on the keys being presented on the field. (He is diagnosing very poorly.) When the play's intent is revealed he is moving backwards while Parsons is slashing across his face forwards to the receiver. LVE has actually stacked himself on top of another defender.

I think his neck injury has finished him. He is hesitant in seeking our contact and looking to disrupt and destroy plays. That's why his recognition skills have gone to pot.

He is probably a nice guy, but I would be looking to move away from him this offseason. It's too bad about Cox's injury. I might have been tempted to move him this season for a low round draft pick.

We need to draft a tough, but intelligent MLB who can cover and move to lock down the middle of the field and the run game. Then we can unleash Parsons to do what he does which is seek and destroy everything on the field that is in his assignment.

Where are the people who told us Parsons was a wasted pick because MLB is not an impact position and CB is more important LOL
I can honestly say that I was in the camp of people that did NOT want a CB, so glad that it was an easy choice due to CB's being gone.

The front office does not get credit for doing something that should have been done years ago and never should have happened to begin with.
Yes, we all should be judged by past actions more so than current actions.

I was hoping that with Smith gone, it would allow LVE to step up and at least be OK. He's gotten worse the last few games, seems at least 2-3 big plays where he either over-runs the play, gets blocked out because he was over tentative or just really doesn't react.

Jaylon Smith couldn't stop eating cheese and running himself out of a play/letting his gap go.

LVE looks like a guy who doesn't see what's happening and is too late to react. He's also built in such a way that his leverage in taking on blocks is terrible.

Simply put, Parsons is a football guy and Smith is not. Parsons puts in the work to be better each week, while Smith was more interested in his bank account and business interests.

The funny thing is people just couldn’t wait to get rid of Smith but then still can’t stop talking about him. LOL.

My purpose is not to dis on Jaylon. It’s to commend the front office for having the wisdom to take the BPA and move on from a guy they had a lot of money sunk into

Parsons is living up to his draft status and then some.

But I need to hit up Urban Dictionary for "honeycomb hole" and see what the cool kid lingo is all about.

It’s the gap between the CB and safety along the sideline, in zone coverage.

Jaylon is like a strong but poorly tuned chainsaw. Slow off the throttle but will spin up eventually.

Parsons is that ported and polished saw that is tuned perfectly and ripping at max rpms at the first squeeze of the trigger.

Parsons is a Tesla Model S Plaid. Jaylon is a Toyota Camry.

Geeezzzz, how do you guys keep missing this? Smith's injury robbed him of the lateral agility to make plays. Has nothing to do w/ instincts. Basic stuff, guys.
