It's no more of an advantage than getting it first at the start of the game.

For real. Don't know how this became urban legend. Sure, use it to play to your team's strength at the time (offense playing better, defense playing better, or to jump start one or the other) but there's no way possible to know whether you'll close out the first half or not to double up in the 2nd half. You can only hope. It really is a coin flip.
