Zuerlein is one of the best at kickoffs. Not the best. One of.

One more kick or extra point might be the difference between winning and losing a game. As it has already been a few times this season (Bucs and Raiders games). A few more touchbacks is absolutely not worth not having a reliable field goal kicker.
Oh my, he is one of the best at kickoffs. Are kickoffs important? How about a kickoff guy messes up and the ball goes to the 40 instead of the 25. Couldn't that lose a game? It certainly could. And it can also get some players hurt on some returns on non touchbacks. Our kicker is much more likely in making the rest of his extra points this season.

Do you clowns even watch the kickoffs? What is his percentage of touchbacks?
Since they moved the kickoffs closer to the opposite end zone to prevent injuries, any decent kicker can kick the ball out of the back of the end zone. The rule change a few years ago was implemented for that very reason. No returns means no injuries. Zuerlein is not special.

We absolutely need to move on from him and its been that way for a while. It HAS cost us a game.. probably 2.. and that isn't missing long FG.. PAT should be automatic.

It has always baffled me about american football.. the only football in the world that doesn't value the kicking game. How many games are decided by FGs? How many by extra points missed? It seems a fundamental part of the game and yet the kicker seems like an afterthought. A strange quirk.

Maybe I just miss the Dan glory years when you could leave to get a drink after the TD knowing the PAT was assured.
The smart coaches knows the value of a good kicker. They know that an inconsistent kicker will cost the team games.

So 21/32 kickers means he’s one of the worst. And somehow a kicker who has been on his couch is gonna wakeup and magically be a top 15 kicker? Lol gotcha.

Yeah, that's exactly what it means. There are only 11 kickers worse than him. He's in the bottom half of the league.

Do you know what year you're currently in? Kickoffs in the NFL are almost irrelevant. They're hardly ever returned. Nobody in their right mind is keeping a bad kicker just because they're "good at kickoffs."

and vastly better than anyone on the street

Brett Maher just came off the street and is 8-9 FG's and 7-8 XP's in his four games this year.

Zuerlein is 11-12 FG's and 5-8 XP's in his last four games.

Maher has certainly been no worse. Forbath was better when we pulled him off the scrap heap.

Why would he need an excuse for the Raiders game? The reality is every kicker in the league misses kicks. Show me a kicker that makes 100% and I’ll show you a video game
The reality is that Zuerlein is missing extra points and he is not dependable. I don’t know why so many fans are defending Zuerlein and his misses. Some posters think that the kicker position can not be improved. IIRC ,The last kicker that Dallas found in the unemployment line was Forbath and he was perfect during his time in Dallas. The kicking job was given to Zuerlein and Forbath was cut. It is not impossible to find to an upgrade at this point of the season.

Why is it likely that he will make the rest of the extra points this season? What has he done to deserve the confidence in his kicking? The bigger question is why are you defending Zuerlein and his misses?

I'm tired of Elliott and his busted knee excuse. I think he needs to take a paycut big time.
Lol excuse. He’s playing a game that’s probably going to cause quality of life issues later in life and it’s looking like that busted knee is going to derail this entire season. If anything he should ask for a raise. But hey, your childish need of instant gratification through a sports team isn’t being fulfilled!

I think at this stage they will ride with Zeurlein, a bit late to play musical FG kickers

It was a swirling wind so it was definitely tough to kick yesterday.

It is likely because he is a decent kicker regardless of his current percentage. I suspect that he will make all of his extra points at home and a good chance of making them in the last game as well. My question is why you dwell on it when it is obvious that no change will be coming this season?

He doesn't know. Just an idiot claiming what he would do on the internet.
Dude I hope you’re referring to someone else. I just asked a question to start a discussion. Don’t try to be a tough guy behind a keyboard talking smack .
