If he isnt a prime example that salary dictates playing time in Dallas, I dont know what is.

I guess the counter point could be that he is the only one of our skill players (besides maybe Brown) that has a clue as far as blocking....

But not getting the ball to Pollard more, especially in the playoff game, was criminal.

What's worse is the structure of the contract made it impossible to do a Jaylon Smith with him.

Jerry usually caves and gets creamed in player contract talks, but even accounting for that....I'm still a little surprised he got beat SO badly on the Elliott deal.

Not many players have a structure where it's impossible and/or very hurtful to the team to cut them within FOUR entire years.

And 60 million guaranteed to a running back who already had a ton of miles on him??

But he was grasping at straws trying to save his pet project Garrett.

Daks 40 million is a problem, but dollar for dollar, it's better than the 12-15 Ezekiel Elliott is stealing.

It's really shameful because he is a HOF type talent, but he won't as much as come close. Not even close to close.

That would really eat away at anyone with any real heart, desire and pride.

It's more about money and social media for him....as well as being the football star that he actually isn't and never earned.
At present, Zeke and Dak are on the same level. Both can be really good at times, but both are wildly inconsistent and not worth their contracts.

They are also both paid as of they should be the featured player on the offense....and neither ought to be.

Those facts just aren't going to add up well.

Elliott not only hurts the team cap wise, he hurts them on the field as well.

He just can't get it done anymore. He isnt any type of anything the defense needs to account for.

Reminds me of Witten toward the end. An old large wounded animal that we have to watch die slowly.

Doubling down on dumb so Jerry's moves don't look quite so stupid is a large problem and probably never won't be.

I was defending Z until he held out while under contract and insisted on a maxed out deal. You simply cannot play in super bowls w/ maxed out deals for inconsistent players.

Ok, I hate to break everyone away from their regularly scheduled Dak bashing, but I just watched this and it is amazing.

Here is Zeke's 2021 highlights. I was actually SHOCKED at how great he looked in the first 5 games (even though he didn't have a highlight vs Tampa). He looked as quck and agile as I have seen him probably since his rookie year. All of that offseason work that he did actually paid off.

Then around the MN or the Dak coming back game, you can see the dropoff. Highlights turn into 2 yard tds and plodding runs. The injury definitely changed him and the entire offense (as I have been saying probably since around when this started happening).

Anyone can see the dropoff. Unfortunately, even though he is obviously injured, this is not much worse than he was the previous two years.

I am hopeful that with an offseason of rehab and more work we can see the Zeke like the first 5 weeks, otherwise, he needs to be a backup.

You had me at the first sentence.

Classic.

He did all his winning in college.

The NFL for him is about having money and being a celebrity.

It's the nature of the beast to decline early and quickly at that position, and they even had Pollard to step in for the time being if needed....

But they still gave him this crazy uncuttable structure. Elliott didn't give that to himself.

But the return on that deal has got to be one of the absolute worst in recent memory.....and they can't get out of it.

I've got to repeat it....I'm stunned it was that one sided, even for Jerry.

Something called a knee injury that slowed his progress from early in the season and our brilliant Albert Einstein’s would not sit him to rest. That’s like telling a sprinter in track, know you have a groin injury but You still need to run those sprints races on the Diamond circuit.

They are not remotely the same.

Dak is performing, even to most of the haters, at a top 10 level. Zeke hasn't performed even up to top 32 levels in some time.

He put in work in the offseason had found the fountain of youth for a few games. That fizzled quickly.

It was extremely obvious something was wrong with him after that pats or vikings game. Had he been healthy he probably breaks 1400 yards. I honestly wished we would have just rested him. I think we would have probably gotten better production out of Pollard and then that would have created a stir asking why we're paying Zeke so much if we can just run with Pollard. Hence why he kept playing probably.

A healthy Zeke would’ve never sniffed 1400 yards this season, spitting carries with Pollard. He was going to split carries whether he was healthy or not. The 2022 season will be Zeke’s last season with the Cowboys. I think the team would’ve moved on during the offseason if he wasn’t owed a lot of money.

Every team played 17 games and both numbers are better than finishing out of the top 32 backs
The fact that he played 17 games is a testament to his toughness.

He hurt us by doing that though.

I watched him, any other starting back in the NFL would have been an upgrade over what he gave us the last 12 games.

Top 10? After the first 6 games, Dak was not remotely close to the top 10.

Didn't he play on a torn PCL..plus wearing the brace...if it was that bad...he should be having surgery to fix it...
Grade 2 is a partial tear, takes around 3 months to completely heal. Surgery is not required or performed unless it’s grade 3… full tear!
